Holidays given will more than likely vary from one company to another, and one industry to another. With my company, we get 6 holidays plus 4 flexible holidays (which many people use the week between Christmas and New Years.

Why would you not be allowed to take off the days between Christmas and new years? Nothing happens during those days usually as everyone else is off work

I would say 10-12 is normal range for Holidays in the US.

💯 terrible, especially when you work for a global company and see that they’re willing to pay more Holidays to the other Regions, but only do the bare minimum for the US.

We get 12. In previous jobs I’ve usually had around 10.

That’s still quite low isn’t it

This seems low - usually get 15-20 days of vacation

Has anyone done a contract to hire position with JPM? How does it work for time off, is there vacation built in? I have young kids and can’t imagine not having any time off, even if on contract work, since illness happens and also, I have a family trip for them this summer… while waiting on conversion to permanent, do you have to work endlessly or is there something in place to make some reasonable work life balance? I just started a new job 2 months ago, benefits and PTO don’t start until 90 days in so I still have a month before I can take off any time, and today found out my company doesn’t offer paid maternity leave.
I’m really struggling handling the symptoms and maintaining my full time job. Thinking about looking for a part time job to have more time to myself through the pregnancy since I won’t be getting a paid leave anyways, but lost on where to start looking. Any recommendations?

Looking for advice: when leaving the big4, is it better to cash out your vacation balance or take all your vacation if it means you could leave the day of the performance bonus payout? Suggestions on what would be better in terms of monetary benefit? My vacation balance is full (176 hours) and my bonus would be approximately be $5000 since I was promoted… this would be after busy season FYI

When is it either allowed or seen as OK to start using FTO? I recently started here and while I’m not looking to slack off and take time off, I just want to know how it works. (Plus, I don’t want to not use something that I can or should use.) Elementary stuff, I know. But I’ve freelanced my whole career until now. Thanks

Have an interesting scenario. Holiday party season is approaching. At one of our parties (during working hours) there is an optional “talent show.” Employees can win door prizes. We have an entry that is a religious song - like one you would sing in church. I assume we need to let this employee perform this - or we are setting ourselves up for trouble. Likewise, if we permit this song, I assume we cannot compel attendance to the talent show. The talent show is part of a lunch thing.
