What are your values lol.
How about a price range?
Have a palisade with four kids and no dogs and I like it a lot.

Given your budget, if you're shopping new I'd look at the Telluride, Palisade, Grand Highlander, and Palisade as the top picks. Off the top of my head they all start in your price range.
As I'm sure you're aware, kid stuff takes up a ton of space. Add two dogs to that and I think vehicles like the Highlander with its inefficient packaging run out of space pretty quickly. Same with the CX-90.
Domestics like the Grand Cherokee L and Explorer are also viable, but I'd take pretty much any of the first four aforementioned vehicles over a domestic.
ETA: You can, of course, go with a smaller vehicle than the ones I mentioned, but the convenience of a larger vehicle is nearly literally life-changing when you size up to it.

From a space and functionality standpoint, the Atlas is a good option. I've been burned by too many VWs in the past to seriously look at one, though, but different people have different risk appetites.
ETA: In my original post, I inadvertently listed the Palisade twice. One of those mentions is supposed to be the Pilot.
