@OP What you’re describing sounds like Senior Consultant/Band 8 territory but your letter should say Band 7 (Consultant) vs Band 8 (Senior Consultant.)
@IBMC1 I find in the US that bonuses are heavily influenced by team performance but managers are given a fair amount of discretion to recognize and reward individual performance if overall team performance doesn’t support an adequate reward/incentive.
Wish the best of luck to a Band D who doesn’t know what the core consulting framework is 👍

Consultant > Senior Consultant > Managing Consultant > Senior Managing Consultant > Associate Partner > Partner > Partner & VP
The fact that ibmers can't agree on basic company info here shows why you wouldn't want to work there.
I’m joining in a few weeks so I don’t have access to those resources. I was offered a consultant level position with a really good salary. Just wanted to see where in the hierarchy that level is. At my previous firm, it’s analyst then consultant

There are four different career paths to senior leadership in GBS, and IBM Canada 1 has outlined only one of them.
The road is well documented and available to anyone who wants it. I recommend you leverage getting a mentor and ask your BPM to sign up for Bee School.
Many of my colleagues are 25, 35, 45 years with GBS. Don’t listen to the naysayers.
And many younger colleagues will never touch 20 years with the company considering we are bleeding talent
My offer letter says consultant, but that’s because the req I applied to originally (lead consultant) was a little funky so what it says on the offer isn’t necessarily what I am on the back end.
And yes, I’ll be making the move. I’ve got some pretty solid relationships with management there

@IBMC1 The “Four Peaks” in IBM GBS are Sales, Consulting, Delivery and Technical. Within each peak is a peer level of leadership, and it is possible (encouraged) to move laterally (and up) between them at different points in your career.
I’ve held positions at different levels in all four.
This is one of the reasons I can’t stand responses like @AC1. If the path is not working, don’t quit, just walk across the hallway and find yourself a different mountain to climb.
IBM2 - band 7 is Senior Consultant, and Band 8 is Manager FTFY.
120k is a SC salary, not a C, and especially not in Tampa.
This should have been the first question asked - OP, what service line / practice are you hiring into?
PS: Bonuses suck at IBM, which is why base pay is higher than the competition 95% of the time.

IBM isn’t bleeding talent because “IBM trains us so well!” Ibm is bleeding talent because bonuses are literally 0.5%, espp is 5%, and the company is a total failure. People realize the opportunity literally anywhere else within consulting is more prestigious, profitable, or both. Source: I spent 2 years at IBM as a consultant, left at my promotion because it was a terrible company to work for. 80% of my start class has done the same and moved on to bigger and better things. Since leaving, I’ve been astounded at how much better the work is and level of quality expected by me is by my new managers. It’s not even competitive. Also, benefits at IBM are horrendous. Enter at your own risk
