I have been given a verbal offer of 145k base for a Sr. Associate role as Data Analytics Lead. The offer doesnât come with any kind of bonuses or stocks.
I have a Masters and 5+ years of exp and my current comp is 115.5k + approx 5k bonus + ~20k in stocks (yearly refreshes) which makes my total current comp to 140k.
Is it worth taking the offer for increase in just the base?
What are my chances of negotiating into a VP level role with at-least 155k?

I've definitely seen a few suspicious deals happen. I think the longer you hang out in this industry, the more you realize that many places try to get away with cutting corners. Maybe that's just me though.
Rookie stuff that should be in every fraud model by now. Just sad the amount of abuse
That article is insane. People will really do anything for money
So I was at Optum when they started pushing this crap with the diagnosis codes. It was originally pitched to all the employees in the organization, as a way to capture a more complete picture of the individualâs health. It wasnât about up-coding, as much as it was being pitched, as part part of treating co-morbidities and a âwhole person health model.â
I do not think any general employee not directly involved in this knew what was going to be happening with it. They never came out and said, âwe will use this to increase our Medicare payouts.â Who knows, it could have simply been honestly something very benign initially, as we were being pitched. Then someone said, âhey wait! We can do this with it.â They pushed the âwhole person health modelâ/co-morbidities for years before the diagnosis codes being pushed on the providers.
What is sad, is that if they had stayed the course with actually collecting realistic diagnosis data, then that information could be fed into their AI system, and really develop great population modeling, advance research, and so much more. It would have been more valuable to everyone. Instead, we have short sighted morons, bending and breaking every rule for short-term gain to please shareholders.
Honestly, the more I see the corporate interactions and goals that are driven exclusively by increasing shareholder value, the more I get sick of how corporate America operates.
Iâve heard some pretty egregious corporate card abuse stories. Lavish happy hours, taking business partners to gentlemenâs clubs, steakhouse dinners with brokers and their side-pieces, etc.

I hadnât seen it personally but I heard a story of a customer not being happy with his car appraisal after being totaled so he came to the main office to fight the adjuster.
