I'm looking to find a job like the Forward Deployed Engineer role Palantir Technologies in the UK.
I have become hooked on finding a job that involves solving the kinds of problems they presented during their interviews. Although I got to the final round my performance anxiety got the better of me (I think I wanted the job a bit too much...). I will reapply after working in a similar company.
Is it "deep tech" / "data science" or "smart enterprise" that they're doing? Any advice welcome.

First, I like to ask what their budget is
I can’t imagine a company opting to pay the top end of a range, so just be sure your lowest is something you’d actually take. Or maybe just give a tight range - “I’m looking for something between $87,500 and $87,800 but I’m willing to be flexible in that range.”
Do everything you can to have them give a number first.
Whether or not that happens, give them a single number, not a range.
When has a range ever benefitted the seller? Start high. Maybe 20% more than you are willing to take and negotiate down from there
I tell them what I am looking for, and also what the bare minimum would be before even agreeing a conversation or interview
I like replying with my top amount no range. Anytime I did range they always go with the lower which i don’t really want
I just tell them what I currently make and that I’m either willing to stay in that range or need more. If they say they’re open to negotiate absolutely ask for the max amount you find reasonable. I did this and they came back with $1k more than my counteroffer
Trying to strike a good balance between getting paid for what I’m worth vs. pricing myself out of a job if my starting number is too high. Also asking bc this is based in Toronto which likely pays less than NY/LA
