The rough days (the first two for me), sometimes I do listen to my body and just drop the weight. Not every month is the same for me, though.
Ab workouts are good to keep you regular during those times, work at about 75% effort tbh.
I’ll usually go much lighter when I’m on my period, or skip the weights completely and do a low impact full body workout or some yoga. That being said, if the pain is too much to handle on any particular day, I’ll just skip the gym and rest up.
