When I was job searching last year, I noticed a huge gap between what job descriptions promised and what the roles actually turned out to be. Titles like “strategic lead” or “cross-functional” often masked reactive, chaotic environments. I’ve learned to spot the red flags faster, but I still get caught off guard sometimes. What’s your biggest lesson from taking a role that didn’t match the pitch?

High turn over, multiple job descriptions, purposely vague.

When you recruiters say at the end of a 15 min call.
“I will get back to you by the end of this week” does that really mean “your not right for this position”? Because this whole thing is a waste of time. I have a friend who was let go a few months into his first job after college (reason: the manager felt like he wasn't grasping the training content to the level that was expected). What are some things recruiters expect from candidates in this situation to continue considering them?
