Work from home has been great for many reasons, but the confession part of this post is how much a loud, disorganized, chaotic environment raises my stress levels. I’ve realized that I can be so much more productive in a quiet home office. But I know some people like the “energy” of a corporate office.

I’m currently living and working close to Boston but I’m considering moving back home for personal reasons. Unfortunately, “home” doesn’t offer much local options and it’s not close enough to travel into the city every day for work. I’ve been considering finding a fully remote job but I’m concerned about what salary/compensation I could expect. I switched two years ago from regional real estate/energy to a local small, but established residential real estate practice. While I’ve gained so much practical experience and run my own book here, I want to shift to a non-traditional remote role in real estate but keep getting turned down. I have strong credentials but I’m worried this small firm experience is killing my marketability to large companies.

After calculating commuting costs, it will add ~£5,000 net per year to commute into london to be in the office. Is it reasonable to ask for a base of £40,000 in london?

Is it a bad look to accept an offer now and tell the new employer I can only start after the second week of the new year? My current firm gives out bonus at the last week of each year.
