In many cases, no consequences for bad grades.
True. I don't think the students even know what grades mean anymore. At least at my school!
I think they care but in pa they are tested half to death so they are probably feeling defeated. When the kids get a good grade they still seem to be proud especially if I make a big deal. When I get 100 percents on a test I announce it to the class by calling their name and saying great job and. Thanks for working so hard.
For our kiddos, grades don't really mean anything to the district until high school. We used to have to earn credits in middle school so learning good habits in elementary was important. Now, families don't care because "it doesn't matter."
