Any advice on how to handle getting fired without notice? Literally found out the day of...a couple days after I said I was going to need to start billing for OT. I was working almost every day until 3am and weekends since the pandemic hit and my lunch hour was never respected. Was there for a year as permalance. This is in NY.
Need some insight: if you’re about to leave for a competing firm, should you give 2 weeks notice (and risk being fired/escorted off the premise) or simply quit without giving notice?
I think I have a mutual workplace crush going.. And he’ll be writing my performance review. It’s a big no no (like grounds for getting fired) when you’re on the same team and different levels cont
That moment when one idiot replies all to group of literally 1,000s of employees and then 50 people reply to be removed or tell them they replied all. Tempted to reply all "you're all fired".
Hill Holliday in Boston laid off a bunch of people and so far, by my count, it's 13 women 3 men. 4 working moms. 1 woman 6 months pregnant. And most of the creative layoffs were women??
Company had a restructuring and a co-worker was let go. She had more experience, did more work, and made less money than others in her department who weren’t let go. Her boss (male) made some comments about wanting to be married to her, her appearance etc. all was rebuffed. She was told when let go it was about efficiency but he made the final call on who from the team got cut. I think she should at least consult an employment attorney but she’s worried about losing the severance. How do I help?
Sometimes I wish I worked on the commercial side for the $, but today I got 3 emails asking for my availability for upcoming Federal roles and I’m counting my blessings 🙌🏼 so thankful that I don’t have to add layoffs onto my plate of mounting worries. Sending good vibes to my commercial counterparts
If you got a bad first performance review (actually bad, so figure a 1 or 2 out of 5, but no PIP and given the chance to improve, and also told it’s fine because first review), and you’re not getting fired over it, would you put a lot of effort into trying to move firms once you’re able to say you have a year of experience, or would you just try to improve your reputation at the firm you’re already at, since leaving after 1 year isn’t generally ideal?
My brother was fired for “performance” last week after 1 YOE at a boutique. He suspects the real reason is CV19. He is quite down, and feels his career is over. 🐠-any words of advice to offer him?
So what happens if the firm loses one of the main clients you work on? (Get fired, move around to diff teams etc...)??
Have you or anyone you've known told your manager/partner that you don't plan to stay... and gotten fired? How bad was it?
Hi ladies of fishbowl. I got laid off today and I am trying to find sense in it - I was my agency’s most effective client partner and highest performer, and still I got cut. Any recommendations on what to do?
Laid off at PwC. It was more of a relief than anything. Anyone have any knowledge on openings at smaller (but not necessarily boutique) firms? Human Capital / Change Management related field.
Pharma companies have started laying off employees. Should we be concerned that they will also be spreading less on consulting projects and therefore deeper benches and layoffs on the consulting side?
Bit of dumb question... thoughts on wearing fishnets with skirt suits? I like the look.. but is it considered too casual / not appropriate ?
Hi ladies, What was your personal experience if you had a baby at a more junior level? Think- post-MBA level. Did it delay your promotion to the next level (manager or so)? Did you not want to get promoted bc it was hard to adjust to having a newborn and think about moving up? Also- anyone start a new job where they expected a promo within a year or so and gave birth before the promo? Would love to hear your stories, get any tips/advice. Thanks in advance!
Anyone here have their CDFM cert? Exam is broken into 3 sections, but there are questions from all 3 sections on each exam? Can anyone confirm? Also is it worth getting if you're in fed FM?
If I know I'm going to redeem my points on United/travel, should I get the United card over the CSR?
I interviewed for a company, and they told me I was a great fit, they were just working out some details and would reach out in a couple of days. It's been over a week and I've sent a follow up email
Would you recommend asking to have an official review (for performance review cycle) for an internal effort? Context: effort is managed like a project team, just no client and no typical analysis
After speaking to some of you last week I decided to create an Ultimate Guide to Recession Proofing your career. If you want it DM me. If you have already done so, you’ll get it in the next few hours
Any good intro books on how to sell? All my background is in delivery and I’m starting to get involved in GTM, going to pitches, talking to prospects. Thanks!

Looking for advice on how to get off a client engagement. I’m on a big audit client that’s year round - notorious for burning good employees out. The managers on the job are difficult to work with and won’t spend the time to actually coach people. I’ve been working crazy hours trying to get everything done they ask of me while still making sure to coach and assist other staff/seniors but it’s been too much for me to handle. I’ve gotten good reviews thus far but want to ask to come off the job.
What do you do when you see blatant sexism/racism? Not like I wasn’t invited to this or there are derogatory remarks. More like managers who will only work and give white men good reviews. (Cont.)
Oooop, surprising strong jobs report, I reaaally expected the opposite as lots of people are bracing themselves and their businesses
