I don’t wanna join this virtual happy hour. What should be my excuse given everyone should be available stuck at home?
This has been on my mind for a few weeks, and I have to get it off my chest: Via slack, did you PING him? Or did you PANG him? Heard someone say PANG one time and now I’m lost…
Prepping for my first Zoom call of the day...
With so many new faces as Community Leaders, how do people feel about doing a zoom Happy Hour next Thursday? This will give everyone a chance to get to know each other, ask me or our CEO whatever is on your mind, and generally connect. Thinking like 730 or 8 eastern for our west coasters?
i am irrationally angry/annoyed at my job and it’s affecting my personal life. My bosses expect me to pick up the slack from other coworkers and I am one of the only people on the team who constantly has statutory deadlines year round (both GAAP or IRS driven) so slacking off really isn’t an option. any tips on how to cope? i don’t want this affecting my romantic relationship
Received an invite for a superday very quickly after applying to Goldman. Recruiter never sent me the zoom password and then the password failed to work so everything started a full 15 minutes late. Interviews went great including a “they’ll definitely be a second round” but then I received the rejection email the next day. Do we think the tech issues played into that significantly or just my interview not stacking up to other candidates?
Hi guys! I know this has been asked before but can anyone recommend a therapist that they’ve been seeing? Ideal if they’re based in NYC but if not, those of you doing it through Skype,do you think it
I'm having difficulty making personal connections with students this year. I teach hybrid, so I have a room half full of students in front of me and half at home on zoom. I have tried playing educational games, I greet them each time I see them, I try to do small talk, I make positive comments on their work, it just isn't happening. Any ideas?
Is it rude to suggest to a new analyst that she needs to look more professional, e.g. don’t show up with wet hair to client meetings (even if on Zoom)? FYI I’m also a female and just trying to look out for these new hires
Slack is so amazing
Have officially deleted all my dating apps. I see I am not the only one who has. Would anyone be interested in a singles happy hour via Zoom at some point? Maybe invite friends? Me: From SF (CA) Female, 5’9, very active and fun, have 2 dogs
I’m currently in Photoshop clipping a guy out from a stock photo. Imagine if he knew someone was getting paid hourly to zoom in 800% on his crotch.
Popped a THC:CBD gummy around lunch to try and relax today since my anxiety was through the roof. Hit me way harder than expected. Still got all my work done, but my ACD totally knew during our zoom call
Pro tip: finding it hard to disconnect while working from home? At the end of the day, actually power down your laptop and pack it away in your bag with your power cords, mouse, etc. same you would if you were leaving the office or traveling. Need to take it a step further? Also disable your email/Skype notifications on your phone so your not tempted to check them immediately. Happy Memorial Day weekend FB!
How many of you use Skype and not Teams?
Regular tips and strategies to keep meeting facilitation fresh? I host a lot of meetings every week with my teams and I’d love a way to keep up on new ways to engage people (mostly over zoom). Any great orgs or circles that share this kind of content?
For those living in the cali area (San Fran, LA, San Diego) how is your experience within your firms and travel expectations. Currently in DC but considering to make the move, in strategy consulting
Do you think the government is going to use anti-trust rules against Facebook and Google?
Hey y’all. Third year associate at a boutique PI firm. I am the only female and only associate of a firm of four other male partners. I am finding that time and time again, I am outcast and put into the staff category ie (partners ask me to schedule depositions, do not ask me to be involved in case strategy meetings). We’ve also recently gotten a new young female firm manager who they treat like gold. Is paid only $10k less than me without a law or college degree, twenty days off a year, . . .
Going to talk to a CPA but curious how many of you take the home office deduction? I do most of my work at home but meet clients at an office in a high rise. The IRS info isn’t clear if I qualify
Hi there. Anyone at Deloitte knows about this opening: US-EA Strategic Marketing Senior Manager, Executive Accelerators-Chief Executive & CMO Programs? Thanks
Are paid interview prep bootcamps worth it? I see programs that charge hefty sums like 5% of your new salary, but only if you land the job you want. They aren't worth it for lateral moves but could they help me exit consulting to an amazing tech product role?
Has anyone used those under the desk peddlers? I’m thinking of getting one to get some more activity/movement in throughout the day while working. I don’t have the means for a standing desk so can’t use a treadmill unfortunately
How much travel is actually required at Siegfried? Seeing lots of pros and cons about working there. I’m starting to put my feelers out to leave PA. Honestly like the work I’ve been doing the last four years but over the hours and politics, want to experience some more and want better pay. Thoughts/experiences you can share?
Anyone else get good feedback from an interview and then get rejected? I get told I did a great job and what next steps are and then rejected next day lol. Who knows what happens behind the scenes
What are the best advanced excel courses to get better with financial modeling? Currently working in tech implementation and want to pivot into something in finance or business strategy. Able to land some interviews and get through the first few case interviews, but when I get to the take home excel case study I definitely struggle. Any tips?
Just started my 4th year teaching and finally feeling more confident and comfortable in the classroom. But being a young teacher, I feel like the online/hybrid learning would come more naturally to me (with how to navigate technology especially) since we did it all last year. Even so doing it this year, I’m still lost as to how to do it effectively. Anyone in the same boat?
EY kids, has anyone ever negotiated with the partner during the annual compensation conversation? If so, how did it go?
Has anybody interviewed for a KPMG AAS senior associate role recently? How did the interview go and was it both behavioral and technical? I am currently working in audit and am interested in making the switch.
My professional life at the moment is far from ideal. I’ve been on quarantine (long story, but a good one) for the last seven years. Royalties from my books don’t pay the bills. My entrepreneurial pursuits remain hampered. For the interim, I’ve been looking for a remote opportunity where I can leverage my skills in marketing, sales, social media, and elsewhere for a decent sum. I have a social media presence which, in recent years, reached millions. There has to be something exciting I can do.
How many of you don't have an apartment and just alt travel or stay in your client city every weekend? Specifically any EY folks who do this? Wondering how easy it is to live like this on our policies
Is Lewis Brisbois making a concerted effort to attract top tier laterals? Seen multiple V100 associates lateral to there. Move seeks baffling on the surface so wondering if it's anything other than personal circumstances
