Working my first freelance gig and contract is up in a couple weeks. Was hired under “possible extension or full time hire.” Obviously the full time won’t happen but tips on asking about extension? It seems as if they need me (I’m a subject matter expert) but I started as the shelter in place began and it’s been hard to form relationships with client work changes, business changes, layoffs, etc. Should I email my manager or is a call better? Would appreciate your advice!

Industry vets - in your experience how recession proof is insurance? I was not yet in the job market last recession but I watched my mom get laid off and struggle to find employment during that time for the next 1.5 years.
