I haven’t had a written job description for any of my last 3-4 roles. I don’t think this is necessarily bad. I was hired to fill a need and do a role never done before, so I got to create the job so to speak.
I wrote job descriptions when I was leaving then so they could use to replace me.
i’m entrepreneurial, for sure, as is the org itself. they’re hiring across the company and have detailed job descriptions up for those openings. this position, as described to me, is very high level, but plays perfectly into my expertise. i don’t want to undermine myself and my readiness for this level of responsibility/seniority by asking for a job description.
If it feels like the right organization and your negotiables are all met, I would say yes.

Formal description isn’t necessary. But definitely ask what you’ll be working on day-to-day. For what I do, it varies wildly between agencies. So I always want to know what I’m getting into before accepting a job.
