McKinsey & Company I am joining the McKinsey & Company Boston office in late July and searching for housing in the meantime. If I could get some insight on the ratio of days in the office vs work from home that would be super helpful!
If I need to come into the office regularly I will try to find a place close by.
anyone hear back about APMM program offers?
Timesheet software “update.”

Just tell them to come back later. Don’t be passive about it. It’s nice that they want to learn.
I always have my headphones on whether music is playing or not. If I take them off then you can come sit and chat.
Politely tell them you're busy at the moment anf make time to connect when it's convenient for you. I'm not sure what your position or level is within your organization but it's a compliment juniors are interested in learning from you. I try to do my best to help the juniors and impart as much knowledge I can when I have the time.
It’s almost like we’re allergic to data and evidence on this one. They don’t boost productivity. They annoy talent. The only good thing any study has shown is it being a cheaper way to structure an office.
So, I guess if that leaves money in the budget for better snacks I’ll keep it. Just show me the regular jar of gummy bears. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
you should wear a do not disturb sign
I swear they're going to find out open offices were the leading cause of employee turn over. Worst decision ever.
^i wish that worked. i try it. still happens. like leave me aloneeee
(suddenly self-conscious) Was it me???????
Open offices do not boost "productivity"or "collaboration" it reduces both. It makes everyone sicker- less work gets done.Clearly it's just a way to save money. Oh and all the talking heads that say it's great - well they have an office.
^OBVIOUSLY
If I had an office, which i would at most traditional shops, people would need to knock so why does the same courtesy not apply. half the time i’m on a call or in the middle of a deck/email. just feels ballsy. we’re all on messenger, just shoot me an im and check. grrrr
oh i have no problem mentoring and enjoy that. this is really more about work needs in the moment. i’m director level.
Is it random people, underlings of yours, or members of project teams? If it's the latter two, can you set boundaries with them?
it’s the latter two. but yea true. i’ll just say something nicely if it happens that again. will ask them to just slack me beforehand.
