Some of the public employees at these places are abilityone/source America contracted folks have various disabilities, mental or otherwise. They sometimes are just being friendly and not cognizant of typical social norms. Just a thought based on my experience
Good evening
Chill dude
You really need to chill. Just smile at them and thank them and walk away if you don’t have cash/don’t feel like tipping. They probably don’t have a good base of disposable income like we do either. By the same token would you get annoyed by a homeless person who opens the door for you at a Starbucks or a 7/11 expecting a tip? Their circumstances are different than ours
I’ve never known them to be looking for a tip. I think they’re just friendly.
Wtf that’s crazy!!!! You’re in an airport not a night club!
It is the “Southern” way- bless your heart!!!
Think about this - unfortunately, they aren’t gifted with jobs like we are.
That’s his bread and butter, do u think he likes sitting in a restroom all day trying to make a few bucks? It’s very sad - he ain’t gonna buy a Merc with the $1 u tip him. If you cannot help, do not complain. He is trying to make a living.
Sorry if this offends anyone; I am an emotional dude
There's specific bathrooms I will only use at CLT to avoid them, notably at the end of C and end of D.
You can’t blame those guys for doing their job but you can definitely blame the airport for giving people a useless job that detracts from the experience. The same reason why Walgreens does not pay people to open their doors for tips and if they did everyone would shop at CVS instead. It’s also the reason why we no longer have elevator attendants. I am 100% not about having services forced on me which I didn’t even want in the first place, and being expected to pay for said service. F THAT
Using and then expect me to take a wallet in the middle of restroom to tip them. Most of the time I don't even carry cash. Just let me take a leak and be in peace. My tax dollars should take care of their salaries and should provide me clean restrooms. Expecting too much here?
Was just in CLT and there were definitely tips on the counter. I was confused by the whole thing. Didn’t mind it but it was odd. I was heading to a stall, janitor found an open one, wiped down the seat for me, and said “here you go sir”. Haven’t seen that at any other airport
Next time tell him to have a QR code linked to his paypal.
Saying they’re just trying to make a buck is a stupid excuse — since when does that give people a pass for inappropriate gestures. No one wants to feel that obligation in a public airport.
OP thank you for this post. I thought it was just me.. yes, they are totally annoying to next level at CLT
Nice EY1, I will staff you on my projects to just smile and thank the clients when things are going crazy. You are probably that nice guy.
Agree with EY1, relax and move on with your day!
I too am annoyed by the CLT tipping bathroom
Situation.
