Someone has to audit them no? You want us to pass it off to you K1?
Seems like people fundamentally don’t understand audit. US law doesn’t require us to take on any audits at all. Smaller audit firms aren’t able to audit companies who operate at large scale, but I’m sure some would try.
If a company can’t get an auditor, their status as a public company would be under question by exchanges. They wouldn’t be able to access public equity markets. And debt markets would require higher interest rates due to higher risk from not having a B4 audit.

Yo KPMG, no endorsement of EY's business decision, but the other Big 4 are probably in there selling advisory services and actually helping them grow the business.
Agreed! We all need to get out of these companies. But don’t underestimate the importance of audit. A big four audit stamp means a lot to lenders, stock exchanges, etc
OP - why don’t you stop preaching and join a NGO — volunteer your time for a cause.
No disrespect to NGOs, but companies like ours have much greater ability to impact change. If not us, then who.

OP - is this emotional arm twisting as a business development technique? ;)
If only ;)
I actually have hurt my career my choosing not to work on certain clients. I can't help what my company does but I can have some morals and put money where my mouth is.
Respect!! Starting with yourself is the best place to start. Don’t underestimate your ability to make change in your company though - in my experience, leadership everywhere is super reactionary and they’re just as scared and making it up on the fly as everyone else
We aren’t picky we will take all clients
FYI - they’re now known as CoreCivic - much nicer and blander name.
What’s the ethical concern with a private prison?!?! Jesus take the wheel....
WTF is that supposed to mean? Sorry I don't keep up with the unethical practices of every industry.

Would you prefer that they do not have accountability over their expenses or financial controls? 🤨
Every big bank has already said they refuse to fund private prison co’s. These things are possible, they just require courage.
What's the ethical concern with a private prison company? Sorry, feel like I'm missing something.
I would recommend watching 13th on Netflix to get an understanding of what the ethical issues are. However cliff notes are that private prisons require prisoners to profit, which means there is an incentive to pass laws that lock up people and crowd our prison population.
