I would love to work 9 hour days
Willing to be paid less?🤣
You sure you did this math right? That’s not how our PTO and holidays work. For us, if you take PTO, your days drop on the denominator, too. So, if you work 260 of 260, you’re 100%. If you take full PTO, you work 235/235 = 100%. With holidays it’s 225/225. The training required would make it 220/225 for 97.8%, with 100% of time accounted for (no unassigned).
I agree with you @A1 - at EY the denominator changes based on PTO and sick leave
If you think 9 hour days are a human rights problem...I guess you’ve never met most working adults
Nice false equivalency b/c we aren’t working 20 hrs a day it’s OK.
I think the complaint isn't about working 9hrs a day but about being budgeted for 8 hrs a day. Many shithead partners try to bid projects competitively by modeling 40hr weeks for staff. This practice should be against all firms policies. Long story short, bill the hours you work!
Literally why we bill a flat 45 weekly...
Our goals are basically to be utilized the full year. But this misses additional firm work and additional training beyond the required amounts for annual CPE.
The solution is unionizing but I don’t think we have enough support for that yet.
You seriously want to unionize a job that differentiates a lot on individual performance??
9 isn’t that bad tho?
Is 9 what? 9 is what you have to hit on avg to hit goal?
surely you can’t be complaining about having to work a few extra hours in the Big 4 to offset you choosing to take 25 days of PTO/year......
I’ve had 25 days of PTO for the last 5 years...
Honestly there are plenty of days, usually the WFH days where I charge 9 hours but work half. You don’t really have to get outraged about it, just play the game
90% utilization? Which company?
Deloitte
Yea basically every hour that isn’t PTO or a holiday is expected to be utilized and most projects budget for 45 (at least in my team).
What happens if you are benched? It looks like you can never easily recover.
Yup... my company don’t count the PTO and require the same utilization as you were in the office
