I'm over in the midwest so I cant speak to your questions about NY specifically, but just want to say congrats on the offer and potentially welcome!

Office is beautiful and has an amazing view!! Spent some time working there and loved the people, although around 90% of NY office cases are in Pharma. Most people travel locally to pharma client sites in NY and NJ.

Depending on your level, you may have anywhere from 2-4 projects at the same time. My hours are pretty good, but there’s a lot of added mental stress from having to be responsible for several different projects at once (and of course there are lots of things to keep track of within each of those as well)

helpful

I'd say I'm 60ish hours on average. To ZS3's point, having multiple projects sometimes compounds things when they all get busy at the same time. On the flip side, travel is mostly local.

Thanks for the responses! ZS1: could you elaborate? What kind of hours are you pulling?

We have ~$400k HHI. Monthly expenses are ~$6k (1 child). We live in Austin. We’re seriously considering getting a 900k to 1M house which we wouldn’t be considering if the market in Austin wasn’t so crazy but we’re really big on proximity to culture/resources and need to stay in the area (can’t move to Houston, Dallas, San Antonio , etc.). We also just honestly feel like the suburbs out here are so very bland. Thoughts on us doing this? Are we crazy? Is this understandable given where we live?

Ladies, I have a dilemma. I know the choice is ultimately mine, but I wanted some input. I met my current boyfriend through my cousin and he lives in Chicago. However, I was applying for jobs in NYC and just received and offer for a company I’ve always wanted to work for. I feel like I’m going to have to make a choice between my job and my relationship. “Picking up” the phone and calling someone vs emailing or texting is a hot topic. I am GenX who prefers setting up time to talk and preferring text or email unless phone time is booked. My GenX boss gets LIVID that my team is not an off-the-cuff phone culture. She has a sales background and mine is straight delivery/implementation. Just venting.
