Interviewing for core SE role on the west coast - what can I expect for a salary range? Have been a partner for 4yrs.

How significant is the compensation difference between a managing director and a partner ? Are there still revenue targets for MD ? Or mostly bill ability ?

If I know how many attorneys there are at my firm, how many equity partners there are, the hourly rate associates and partners bill at, and the yearly billable requirement is it possible to estimate how much an equity partner would take home on average? Or are there too many other factors? I’m just curious. Our firm is super open about how much everyone makes (from associate to C and B partners) but idk how to figure out equity.

What partner retirement packages do big 4 offer? Do partners typically get an annual compensation for life after retirement or do they just get a retirement pension (fixed sum) that they can withdraw from after retirement?

I feel like a well liked and fairly competent, experienced staff member, but I’m not sure if I’ll ever have the kind of drive that some of the partners have at my firm. I’m a solid 60 hrs a week person that cares about relationships both professionally and personally. Is this the right place for me LT? Should I make the move to industry? It doesn’t seem like the comp makes sense if your don’t make partner and I don’t know if I have the passion for it.

If you made 275-300k total comp (pre tax) and had no loans and no kids and lived with your partner (who has very uncertain income) in hcol city (New York, LA etc) how much would you spend on rent?
