What are the Big 4? Discussions

I’m seeing jobs on LinkedIn for BCG M roles (amongst others). I work in the strategy team of a big 4 and have been in the manager role for ~2 years, expecting promotion this year. Have strong P sponsorship. But pay is 30% lower.

@MBB - how well have you seen people do when they make the jump at the M level? My concerns are not knowing specific firm methodology (my perception is it’s more ingrained / dogmatic in MBB) and lack of sponsorship at the D / P level makes it hard to progress. Thoughts?

Is it normal for your manager to yell at you in front of a bunch of people in Big 4 or MBB?

How long is the longest you've heard of someone stay unassigned at a Big 4?

What do the exit ops look like for an average/above average associate with about a year of Big 4 FDD experience? Would PE be a possibility or most likely have to do IB first?

Does leaving B4 FDD for a regional boutique IB in a non-major metro really hurt your brand when it comes to exit opportunities? Trying to assess if that would make a later move into Corp Dev easier or harder,

Over the passed 2-3 weeks I’ve been actively applying for jobs between linkedin / indeed / company career sites to no avail.

my applications have not been tailored to any one service line, as I have many different interests that I consider exploring. I’ve sent out a good 40 applications. Seeking roles such as investment/credit analyst/financial accountant/operations or big 4 FAAS or audit. Have even taken advantage of referrals and the only news I have heard back are rejections.

I got rejected for an interview from Big 4 NY Audit, even had referrals from Manager + level people. 3 years w/ audit senior at mid size firm, 2 years fed tax at big 4, and 1.5 years Internal Audit healthcare. Currently self employed for a year to work on investing. Do I literally need a partner level referral to get back into Audit? I thought there was an accountant shortage.

Are any public sector firms on a hiring freeze right now? Trying to get into Big 4 GPS but can’t tell if the process is slow due to the holidays or the economy.

Can anyone comment on internal firm accounting and financial reporting? At Big 4 level. Currently an audit associate about a year in with my CPA, and I know long term audit isn’t the move for me. From being in previous industry roles, I don’t mind month end close and keeping busy, but I’m just wondering how valued this experience might be to other industries and what kind of challenges would be faced. Thank you.

Should I take same role at another Big 4 firm (opportunity is for Senior Associate in Tech Strategy Consulting at Strategy&, $190k base). Current Senior in Tech Strategy @ EY-Consulting ($175k base), would likely be promoted to Mgr this coming spring. Mainly intrigued by the more prestigious brand, higher salary +signing bonus, faster upward mobility (~1 year cadence to be promoted ranks — seems to take numerous years between ranks @ EY-C). But worth losing the connections/brand I’ve built @ EY?

So I got an offer from company X (one of big 4)
And
Just after a week
Accenture appraisal results were declared (ratings were done in June , results declared in November)

Now my package with both present and new company is same, Company X is not increasing the offered CTC .

Any advice on what can be done ?

Very stressed lately. Dislike my current firm for reasons. Wanting to leave, but have applied to Big 4 public sector for a month without much traction. Initial interviews at all, but that’s about it. Feeling underpaid (110k w/ 4YOE), and want to step into a manager role.

Worried that the economy may influence hiring decisions and I may end up stuck in my current role. Can’t take it anymore here though. 😅 Thoughts? Looking at all options and trying to see the big picture and find some hope.

I joined a big 4 last August and from them inam sitting in bench since there are no projects and clients are not responding to open positions. I have uploaded my resume in Job portals but not getting any calls. Any advise if i should wait for few more months
