What are the Big 4? Discussions

What are the best advisory/consulting departments to apply for at Big 4? And are you hiring in this market? Did 3 years audit w/ Audit Senior exp at regional firm and 2 years fed tax at big 4, 1.5 years internal audit healthcare. My strengths are more aligned with external audit (good with clients, consulting with executives/finance/acctg). I didn’t enjoy internal audit (repetitive, doesn’t feel like I’m adding any value) and Fed tax (in front of computer all day not interacting with people)

Good career paths out of B4 audit? My wants would be:
-Decent pay
-WFH preferred, but hybrid would work
-More analytical
-Good WLB/Flexibility

Have two degrees, one Masters Accounting, one Financial Analytics. 1 year of B4 audit so far.

Just hit 2 years at Deloitte, and been pretty unfulfilled by the work I’ve been doing in tech strategy (ie operational efficiency, product incubation, system/tooling assessments and transformations, etc). I’d love to do more pure strategy work, but limited options here.

Not sure if I’m not enjoying the type of work I’m doing, or consulting in general. Did anyone from B4 -> MBB find the work more interesting/fulfilling than at B4?

Partners, I quit last year from a B4 as a Director (Y2) to switch to the industry. The ride hasn't been great so far, too much political. Been thinking of getting back to consulting in the next year, do I still have a shot at making P starting back as a Director? Would you recommend going back to my previous firm or trying elsewhere? Recently left big 4 for industry and looking to subscribe to a tax research platform. I’ve already looked into Checkpoint, and it’s a bit pricey for my new employer (more than $10k annually for 2 licenses). Anyone have suggestions that won’t break the bank of a small company with a small tax department?

Curious what other B4 are at for offshore hours percentages - our leaders are saying competitors are pushing 60-70% of engagement hours done by remote staff? My engagements are closer to 30%.

How much can I ask for per hour as a busy season contractor at a B4? Thinking about being done working FT and just grinding out a few months during busy seasons.

How bad is the accountant shortage? Is it going to get worse? What are the big 4 firms and top accounting firms even doing to change their strategy? Are partners even talking about this and are they starting to realize how big the problem is because everyone is trying to get into tech and software engineering for the amazing WLB and high salary? I’m starting to wonder how many people are even majoring in accounting at business schools anymore.

Is it possible to switch big 4 firms from associate to Senior? Is it better to switch groups to do that?

After H1b how easy/hard is it to switch firms? I want to join a different practice at another big 4, should I anticipate visa related issues?

I’m looking at leaving a small/ comfortable firm to work at a Big 4. I know no one can comment conclusively but should I worry about being able to keep up (re: executive functioning)? I feel like I am pretty smart, I just sometimes feel like I can’t manage as much on my plate as other people. That might be my own insecurity. What questions should I ask to assess how demanding the job would be? Any advice on assessing this? I might be back to get advice on setting up systems! Thanks.

Which Big 4 pays the most in Risk Advisory?

Currently an A1 at a MM FDD firm. Wanting to jump ship to an A1 role at a Big 4 FDD practice. How many months of being a MM FDD associate would you recommend working before making that jump? Also are there any Big 4 FDD practices requiring employees to come into the office and what are your guys hours like on average?

Amazon L6 non tech vs. Big 4 advisory manager. A base is lower than big 4, total package are similar. A has better WLB while work could be repeated and simple. Big 4 work more challenging but risk of burnout. A team is a fairly new team. Thoughts?

Whats the best way to boomerang back to your previous company with another team? I left my previous company in the industry and joined a big 4 consulting. my team was really toxic and there was a sh**show between my seniors every single day making everyone life a nightmare with them pulling us into their political fights. I really loved the type of work and would like to go back with another team.

Left a Big 4 consulting firm a few years ago to a smaller firm for the pay bump. However now that I'm back on the hunt, I'm finding I can't even get a single interview in the consulting world, let alone T1/T2 firms.

Anyone else had experience with this? How did you get around it?

Why is PWC the worst amongst Big 4?

It seems to lag behind other 3 firms in everything. Be it perks, wlb, hikes, bonus and projects. Hence the highest attrition rate. I am part of PWC SDC and its really bad compared to Deloitte USI, EY GDS and KPMG KGS.

Switching from a Big 4 firm to service based companies like Hcl, TechM, Capgemini, Olam etc. Is this a right step if i am getting around 50% hike in service based companies?

Okay big 4 fish. Which firm do you think gives the most ability to expand across product lines? Right now I am tech risk and have been stuck mostly in FAIT and really would prefer channel 2 with the ability to expand to cloud and cyber type audits. At EY we don’t have a national practice so it really depends on the office any other big 4 have a more flexible environment
