Thoughts on doing an online degree. Looking for a career change, but not willing to give up my position now and cannot afford to quit my job yet.
Anybody made a switch from funds to investment banking? What is your role and did you find anything challenging in doing so?
When a private equity firm invests in your company, they do expect to exit their investment within the next five to seven years.
I’m in early talks with a recruiter for a support role at a mid sized investment bank. A few days ago I gave her a salary range. She just asked what bonus percentage I’m targeting. I don’t know how to answer this since my bonuses have been at my manager’s discretion. How do I answer her?
Is it a good time to start looking for jobs now? Are hiring freezes starting to lift and do you think they will go back into effect if they have been lifted?
Any tips for making an exit into corp dev or FP&A? I have decent transaction experience, but I come from a no name boutique. All the online applications have been rejecting me without even a first round interview.
When’s the best time to really consider making a switch to another company or a new internal role? Been really considering S&T or Research but can’t tell if it’s too early to network with others in those fields within and outside my company. Been at a BB for 1 year, from a non-target.
What is the longest amount of time you’ve had between a verbal offer and the written? I’m going on 3 weeks since HR called me, and I know with COVID we should expect some delays, but this seems abnormally long? BB bank for context that said they needed the role filled ASAP.
I left a IB role ~ a month prior to coronavirus having had something else (PE) lined up. Lo and behold, COVID paused hiring, and it has been extremely difficult to justify being unemployed this long (since Feb). Any advice?
How early is too early to leave a job? Started in January (first job out of college) and while I’m not necessarily actively looking for a new role, I wouldn’t say no if the right one came around.
If two companies have same revenue, EBITDA, industry, and exit multiple, what would cause different valuations? It would just be WC changes, tax rate, and Capex right?
Hiring managers: When applying internally, does reaching out to you actually help my application? I follow up each application with an email emphasizing interest. Is this a good idea or do most not prefer it?
If I am currently at a fund administrator and want to get into front office of a fund/IB, what’s the best possible route for me? I am currently pursuing my Masters of finance and graduated from a non-target school with my undergrad in Finance. I have only been in the field for 2 years, bur my main goal is to get into more of an IB role.
I’m thinking about applying for an internal position in a different office. When and how would be a good time to ask about salary? It’s in a much higher COL city and I’m not going to waste my time if they’re not going to account for that.
Those of you in restructuring (I’m in banking side) - what role in RX is the most interesting in your mind and why? IB, Law, Consulting, Hedge Fund, PE
How long did it take you guys to get used to your first role at a BB? How long did it take you to get little to no supervision on your work?
I am looking. To accept a position out of state within my company. The position is posted and I am very likely to get the job .it would be an internal transfer. The recruiting HR told me that me that I am the top candidate but I shouldn’t expect relocation package . They would just give little something to help with the move. Should I push to get the relocation package or just be happy with what they give me.

I’m a part time branch teller and, due to this pandemic, my limited hours were cut back even further. I have to find a second job and may settle with fast food service. I have a bachelor’s degree in finance and currently studying for the CFA level 1 in December, but just can’t seem to get ahead and find a full time position. It’s my dream to work in IB someday, but I’m losing hope. Anyone got suggestions?
Is there anyone on here in credit research? What would be the best way to transition into that kind of a role with corp dev experience? I’d like to get into a research role covering my current industry. Bonus question: Was credit research hit as hard as equity from MiFIID II?
