MBB manager in Life Sciences: struggling to find a good exit. VC/PE - feels like consulting toolkit not really useful, and I’m competing with analysts. Big pharma - in my country too pharmaco not hiring consultants. Startups - don’t sponsor visa. Feels stuck! Any ideas/advice?

Just a year in my first role as data analyst at a big 4 but projects I’m assigned only involve simple research and analysis that any intern can do. Really wanted to use my first job to build more technical skills, but that’s not happening and my manager keeps apologizing for that but apparently there isn’t much they can do. Would you leave or spend a year more? (I’m quite junior and wonder if leaving after a year is bad on my resume )

What is a good way of moving from Engineering Manager back to Software Engineer after 2 years of doing EM and around 6 years as a SWE before that? I am not enjoying EM at all and didn’t realize that its a completely different role. Will it look like career regression to companies and will the 2 years of EMing be looked down upon for SWE positions.

How much coding / hands on development do you need to do on the job as an L6 Analytics Consultant (IC role) at AWS ProServe? I have been a Sr. Analytics Manager for past 3-4 yrs with very little coding in recent past, so evaluating my decision to join the role.

Currently at 5 YOE making 101k in a MCOL city. Was offered a product manager position at a company I’ve partnered with in the past. Thinking I could pull in between 140-160k based on the conversation. I actually like consulting and travel (if it comes back) along with having an office with coworkers compared to being fully remote. Am I being dumb not taking it or just wait a year or two and be there in consulting anyways..?

Anyone here talk to a career counselor? For context, I have 11+/12 yoe and want a change but been doing pretty well in current role and have a path except it’s been really draining me to perform and standout in front of peers. Also, think I need a change for better salary than what I’m making as a manager. Want to discuss options and construct a plan and career counselors seem to charge a bomb. Thoughts on the ROI for really talking to a career counselor?

Plz help me out.. I have an offer at Accenture strategy with 29 LPA fixed, with position as Management Consultant. My partner at EY has offered Manager position in the next cycle with good increment and bonus. What should I do??

Spouse is a state department employee and currently overseas. I’m a manager with three years of experience in consulting and 8 years of experience in the military where I left as a O-3 (GS-12 equivalent). SO wants me to take a non-negotiable family member hire role at the embassy overseas for one year so we can co-locate. Job sounds interesting, but is a non-negotiable GS-6 equivalent. Family life would be great but am I derailing my career permanently? Can I explain this in the future?

Does anyone else absolutely hate talking to recruiters to turn down roles? I had two offers come in, had to turn one down. Spent 30 minutes with recruiter saying no thank you, then he put 30 minutes on my calendar with the hiring manager. Then a couple of people that I interviewed with texted and emailed me to see if I could talk. I’m trying to my gracious and thankful, but saying no just gives me so much anxiety because I’m a true conflict avoider

I have been given senior 3 role (she told it's assistant project manager)in EY gds. evn after having 12 years experience HR told manager they can't give and told in an year I can get promoted if my performance is good.
Is there any way like in an year we get promoted as manager in EY?

After a bit of negotiation reg salary, I got an offer (in writing) for a job at a major bank within the group strategy function. This was before I’ve had the grandfather interview, which the hiring manager said was a formality. I had the final interview today, went OK, and they were supposed to send over the signed papers today but I haven’t heard smack. Anybody who has had a company pull back their offer?

Is there any risk to being at the top of the pay bucket for your role? I’m interviewing for a senior consultant role at another firm and would only jump if it was close to my manager pay for my next promotion.

Just talked to a doordash recruiter for analytics manager role which requires 6+ years work experience. They offered 108k base and 107k equity over 4 years. So that ~130k and it’s much less than what I make. The LinkedIn link says the range in Colorado is 115k-149k base. I live in a big city in Pacific Northwest which is not Seattle. Am I being low balled?

Ok fishes. I see a lot of recruiters posting about pivoting into HR. I’m in a situation about 90 degrees away from that. Working in a smaller company (150 EEs) and was thrown into HR from Office Manager. I’m looking to move on from the company but I have almost no recruiting experience! I’ve been on hiring committees for RFPs and done reference checks before but nothing else. Do I attempt to move into recruiting or just look for opportunities to build this skill set where I am?
