What is MBB? Discussions

Hi Folks,
Having 3YoE in procurement research and now in a research team at an MBB, I feel I've reached plateau learning-wise. Have been focused in Chemical domain throughout.

I now intend to explore roles on client(Chemical Companies) side (like SCM, Planning, Strategy) but unsure how do I go about it.

What should be an ideal career roadmap for someone like me. How should I prepare/do in order to pivot towards those roles?

PS. I'm a BE Chemical Engineering, and no MBA.

Accenture does not do teaser decks, commercial due diligence, and other M&A / PE work do they? Not the same extent as Deloitte, EY, KPMG etc at least…what about MBB? I find consulting to be so general I can’t seem to get into these more investment focused roles. I am looking for these kind of roles. Any advice or help?

In IT consulting. Got early promotion, on track to early manager promotion. PPMDs know me and we get along great. Do I sacrifice this to jump to MBB? Or do I settle down and try to make it at D?

I’m a 4th year medical student in NYC looking to go into consulting after getting my MD. However, I’ve only attended state schools(undergrad/medschool) that are not well known in the business world. Will this be a barrier? I have over a year of dedicated research experience at a well known school/lab to possibly offset that.

Also, any advice on how to build a network in this space for referrals in the near future? And any suggestion as to which firms I should look to apply to outside of MBB?

How should I best prepare myself for the Manager/Project Leader/Engagement Manager role at MBB?

If a consulting firm only has 25 people in my region’s office, and all of them come from the top school of the country, you would agree with me that my chances of getting in are very slim even if I have MBB experience (less than a year) and a senior manager referrall? Just need people to break my dreams so I don’t get let down lol

How likely is the jump from big4 non-strategy (pmo, governance, these things) to strategy (either t2 or mbb)? Assume I am a recent graduate who will probably start in big4, just trying to get the right expectations and plan accordingly

how do fellow mbb folks feel about travel? Do you like travel every week (worth the points and reimbursing?) or prefer less travel or more local travel. I feel that I really enjoy traveling now but after a few months it’ll be kinda annoying especially as you progress your career

Anyone able to assist with a referral at MBB or T2 firm? I have transaction advisory and diligence experience and have worked a lot with the Parthenon deal strategy team at EY. Thanks!

How much do you guys spend on rent in NYC and what’s your respective total comp? I’m starting at an MBB making 192k a year and eyeing rent of 2.5-2.7k. I also have student loans of ~2k and want to save 2-3k a month. You all think this is a good target? Or should I flex higher/lower?

Have a gap year MBB internship coming up and then an M&A one. How does it work with the offers if I have an internship after MBB?

Can someone share MBB salaries and career progression in Europe (North-Western)? I just got an offer and a bit confused on how it stands next to others. Glassdoor has a 40k range for Associates -_-

Would anyone care to share their reflections on moving from big 4 to MBB (preferably at SM / D level) - good, bad, ugly...?

Background info:

Consulting experience from boutique spin-off from MBB
MBB is target post grad, VC long-term
I speak my native language and English (limits countries I can work in)
Could also see myself do Tier 2 in London (heard MBB mainly Oxbridge undergrads)
I really enjoy community life, student clubs and so forth
Have not been in nor London or Asia but have Asian heritage

Any input is valuable, and lets neglect cost for now

What happens if you miss the recruiting period for big4/MBB/T2, do you just wait until the next year to apply?

Former MBB intern, just found out that the big tech firm I was going to work at full time is freezing hiring and is rescinding the full time offer. Sort of lost on what I do now, I graduate in May and worried about career trajectory.

How much hours do mbb ba (less than 3 yoe) work? I heard all kinds of stories, some say 50 and some say 80. Thanks for any inputs

Is there a noticeable distinction in caliber between the people who join MBB pre-MBA vs. post-MBA?

Profile eval for round 2:
- 4 YOE at MBB (team leader)
- very strong references (alum from M7s and confident will say top 5 %)
- decent story for essays/clear career goals
-extra curricular activities good, but confined to work
- 3.5 GPA
- 690 GMAT
- European; white male

Struggling with my mental health. MBA hire and started at MBB 4 months ago. I interned at another Tier 2 and was given no return and brutal feedback (stick to only entry level analyst-type work.) Now, I'm on a complex project, and although my manager has been giving me good feedback, I feel this is a lie and the team secretly hates me. I still go through extreme stress everyday where I feel I am underperforming and will be fired next cycle. Therapy/meds don't help. Anyone else go through this?

Does anyone know how Deloitte Strategy/Monitor comp stacks up against MBB? Particularly interested in how the Analyst & Consultant comps are relative to equivalent MBB roles. Can’t seem to find consistent info online.

F24. Have spent 5 years in IB BB and MBB. Feel myself so die inside and can not enjoy anything. Even relations with friends and men become translational and don’t add happiness

What are current project leader level compensations in MBB in the region ? I am assuming the following TC based on some research : 1) KL 750 RM 2) Bangkok 5,5m baht 3) Singapore 400k sgd . Makes sense ?

How do you motivate yourself to find a job when you know everything you may find is going to be a downgrade? Since I didn’t get a full time offer after my MBB internship, if T2 and strategy boutiques don’t reply, I will be forced to go for implementation and low-pay consulting in big4. I wish I never did the internship so I never knew how great consulting can be, and I wish there was something else in my life that motivated me besides my work, so it wouldn’t matter as much

wanted some advice as I have offers from both S&/EYP in London (where I am based) and two MBB officers in Dubai. I'm not too certain on what to choose. 
Obviously Id go with MBB for the prestige and career boosting potential it carries (+more likely sponsored MBA) but my friends + partner are all in London (WLB also better)
would like some more context about the exit opportunities and how my career potential would change if I decide not to go to MBB. Are transfers within MBB easy? Wb tier2->MB
