T10 MBA + 2YOE at MBB, switching to IB. Was prepared to start over as Associate 1, but soft suggestion just made from HR to potentially consider joining as Analyst 3. Instinct is this would be too big a backward step given direct hires from MBA start as Associate 1. Thoughts / advice?

How long can one stay on a level of principal / associate partner at MBB? Is it a quick up or out (2-3 years)?

Anyone moved to MBB/T2 from industry? What differences in the day-to-day work have you found? I am scared I am approaching the work the way I would have in my industry job (was at slightly more high pressure job than a 9-5 industry job, but industry nonetheless), and scared that isn't enough at MBB/T2. Has anyone made the jump from tier 2 to mbb? How was the experience?

Is there a real difference between MBB and other consulting firms in term of working hours? I feel the average across the board is 60hrs/week with exceptions (project based etc)

2 yrs back, left as an Engagament Manager with one of the MBB for an in-house role at a 15% hike. Average week now is 45-50 hrs

I am feeling demotivated because of the slow growth, red tape and lack of performance-led culture. People and work is good.

Now, another MBB firm has reached out for a Principal role, confused if I could manage the long hours again, but at the same time this snail-pace is making me lose my shit.

2 months into my job at an MBB, am averaging 60-70ish hours on my first project. Worried about my relationship - traveling M-Th and while I’ve been trying to invest 100% of my weekend into meaningful time with my partner (3 years together and just out of school), the time sink work causes has definitely started to bother her.
