Does the word “inclusion” do more harm than good? What if the panel we simply said “Diversity & Equity”? My thought here is that inclusion insinuates that anyone who isn’t in the “majority” needs to feel “included”, which could be somewhat off putting. Shouldn’t the goal be for everyone to feel equal instead of simply feeling included? I’d love to get some opinions on this!

Hi all - I'm looking for help defining our rating scale in terms of our company values. We rate on a 5-point scale of Unsatisfactory to Exceptional Performance. We rate against four company values and five competencies. It was easy to define the rating scale against the competencies, but I'm having a really hard time defining them for the values. I've tried Googling and everything I find is geared more toward competencies. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I’m an HR Generalist. My job is a mix of recruitment and Employee Relations. I find the recruitment aspect to be pretty enjoyable and stress free, but the Employee Relations aspect does often give me a lot of anxiety (I’m a very anxious person to begin with). Recently, it’s been worse because I have several ER cases currently that seem like they could be potentially turning into lawsuits. Do others in ER experience these anxieties? If so, how do you manage them?

How do your companies recognize technical (e.g., STEM) accomplishments? I’ve heard of old school things like fellowships and “Distinguished Engineer” titles. Wondering what other places do now. I’m struggling to see where my path leads if I don’t want to be a people manager and instead focus on becoming a top technical IC instead. Are there clear paths for that anymore?

I see a lot of discussion on this bowl around HSAs. I understand that they’re a great retirement vehicle. However, I’m only 24 and am still on my parents healthcare plan at no cost to them because I have younger siblings. Therefore, I don’t have a high-deductible plan and don’t plan on having one until 26 thanks to Obamacare. I just want to verify that I can’t open an HSA without an eligible plan, correct?
