After spending 4 years as a mid-level ops manager, I tried to break into HR through talent acquisition. Now after 6 years in TA, I've had a hard time getting out of it. My goal was always to get into a more broad HRBP position, but I've since worked for smaller orgs without a solid HR career path. When I ask about my career goals, they keep telling me, "Soon!" Or "Maybe in 6 months!"

Learn to push back on unreasonable requests, provide solutions, and advocate for your client AND the agency (not JUST the client). The amount of weekends I’ve had to work because of incompetent AMs who believe their job function is to say yes to everything😭

I middle manage a brilliant, but self confidence lacking strategist. Today she had a camera off moment bc she got overwhelmed & asked for a min (I heard her choke up). When she came back she was embarrassed and I was like “Hey real talk, you are so smart, you ask the best questions, your insights are spot on. Your biggest weakness is letting yourself think you’re not good enough. My number one goal is to help you see what we see in you.” And then I STARTED CRYING IN MY OWN PEP TALK FOR HER. 😭
