(1) how big is your firm; (2) who does your scheduling / is allowed to touch your calendar; (3) remote, in-person, or hybrid?

I’m mostly remote at a small firm — no associates / I was the associate until about 18 months ago. I’m mostly remote, but I feel like staff treats my partner better because he’s always been the boss, and I was promoted to his level.

Trying to decide how best to address this.

1. 4 attorneys (2 partners, 2 associates including me)
2. receptionist does large majority of scheduling but everyone can add/remove stuff from the calendar
3.everyone is in-person

Sounds like a hard thing to overcome given that you used to be the associate. Probably takes a long time to adjust to the change even though ideally, it shouldn't.

I'm entering my final year of law school but am going part time since I work full time as a paralegal. I have been a paralegal for more 10+ years and I want to open my own firm after I pass the bar.

I've worked at a lot of different size firms including a startup with a few attorneys and I was able to help with a lot of the ground work with getting the practice management system in place and still do some of that now at my current firm. Has anyone done this right out of law school? Any advice?

I work at a small, 3 lawyer firm. One of the lawyers is not barred in the state we practice. Because of this, the managing attorney has been having him draft motions and other legal documents and use my name and bar number and having me file them because I will have to appear in court for the matter. Is this normal? I am not provided time to review the materials before I file them so I end up working longer days because I am nervous to file something using my name and bar number.
