I’m currently working at a T2 and have recently applied to all three MBB’s at the consultant level- each for the NYC office. I’ve been rejected at the resume stage for all three and not sure what went wrong. I have an M7 MBA, good work experience, and applied with a referral each time. I’ve also had folks from each company look over my resume to ensure quality. Is it because I’m applying only the NYC office that my resume is getting dinged? Feeling so incredibly disheartened.

I’m a bit self-conscious about what people think of me, and I feel like this is hindering my ability to act the way a manager should. It’s my first time in this type of role and I’m realizing I have some growth to do if I wanna keep the job.

24 & working in middle office at a PE firm in NYC. I like and want to stay in my role, so looking at NYU’s part time program & Columbia’s EMBA program maybe in a year or two. Also considering programs like UChicago’s Scholars program (sub 3 years YOE) but worried about working 60 hours a week and commuting every weekend for school.

I had a great conversation with a hiring manager who said things like I can’t believe she (recruiter) found you, you are so polished, I want you to meet with the girl on my team -like I had it in the bag. The conversation with the girl on the team went well and told me how excited the hiring manager is and called her right away…. I email the recruiter to ask about next steps and nothing……

Question: I currently work as an inside sales account manager selling a wide portfolio of IT products. A staffing agency (Alfvo) recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn because they are looking to fill a workday him role. They emailed me the job description. They wanted to do a phone call immediately/right then. I said my availability is tomorrow or the next day. I asked for company name, but responded saying they can’t share the count details before the phone call. Am I getting scammed or is this common practice with agencies?
