Hi, Is Trading & Investing in stocks banned for software engineers in JP Morgan? What about Mutual Funds, are they restricted/monitored ? Can we trade in Futures & Options ? @72 peeps, please explain who was doing the sage cleanse? Those who were fired? Or those who did the firing? Either way, sounds like an immature act of FU to the opposing party. I am a big sager—at home, not as a public demonstration of spite.

Coming from Canada it always blows my mind how cavalier the US is in appropriating indigenous traditions (assuming the people whose idea it was to burn sage weren’t Native American).
Canada is by no means perfect (we’re only just starting to grapple with our legacy of anti-indigenous racism) but I would hope that if an agency tried to pull this in Toronto more than a few employees would call them out on making a joke out of smudging.
Seeing the ECDs run around the agency with sage after being let go is painful to see honestly. Like it’s one big joke to everyone. Be better guys.
@freelance1 I can confirm every agency I’ve worked at has paid ECDs they have hired a minimum of $300k base. A few were maybe promoted within and then not given an immediate raise but that’s about the going rate from a holding company agency standpoint anyway.

This would never happen at a Midwest agency because a) values/sense of humanity and b) not trendy enough to know what “saging” even is

Unpopular opinion but I would imagine this was hard on everyone, including those who weren’t let go. Probably just a poor attempt at lightening the mood and getting rid of sad “energy”...not the ghosts of 72ers past. But yea, not the best look
Is there anything we can do? We should report this to adage and ad week, maybe drop a line to their clients? They deserve to be put on blast for this and face repercussions from the community. Such disgusting behavior
this is in poor taste, but might have good intentions. The layoffs were the result of losing General Mills which was a nightmare client that the entire office spent 2 years bending over backward to try and make the relationship work. Losing them and losing those people is devastating but I’m guessing this was an attempt to lighten the mood and point out the bright side of not trying to save a doomed and idiotic client anymore
