Use the extra time you have to find a higher-paying job. When you land one, keep the job you have now but prioritize the higher-paying job. If both are fully remote and you don't have much else to do, you can absolutely juggle 1 part-time and 1 full-time job if you are disciplined enough. If you feel it's too much, then quit the lower-paying job at some point. As long as your work is getting done I don't see how it's morally or ethically wrong. Lots of people have side businesses/hustles which is essentially the same thing. And it's no different than all of your high-paid executives owning a real estate portfolio/Airbnbs, restaurants, etc. Most C-level executives have multiple sources of income that require hours of attention during their regular 40-hour work week. Why is it okay for them to do it but not for lower-level employees? Stack some cash and get yourself financially stable while you build the skills and experience to have one awesome paying job. Then do what the high-paid executives do... find ways to generate semi-passive income. Now you're never in a position where you're desperate to get out of a job but can't because you're broke. Maybe one day your passive income is enough to quit. At that point, the days of working to barely get by and pay the bills are over.... you're working because you found something you love, not because you need a paycheck. Just a thought :-)
Thank you, is funny you mention another remote position bc my last employer contacted me about working PT remote. They just have to get the position approved to hire me. My last job was a bit toxic but this would be PT at a lower level so less stress. I was hoping not to rely on that possibility of being hired, but the more my current job throws bread crumbs at me. It may just be the best thing to take on another part time job. I have that same mentality of screw it make money where I can since nobody seems to be loyal to me.
There is very little loyalty in the market. Don't ever count on it.
Ask periodically, get your experience and then go shop yourself. Don't push the matter too hard until you have a job in hand.
I am dealing with the same issue. Took a job for way lower than I've been paid in a decade. It was under the idea that once I trained in I would be promoted to sales manager. Instead every idea I had was taken by the GM and she took credit for it. She would ask for my opinion on something and then would call me a name and say, "don't ever tell me what to do in my building." She is now gone and on the first of the year I was given the title, "Marketing Manager." First off I'm not a marketing guy so I have no idea where that came from. I have not been given the tools to do this new job but keep getting told there are deadlines for it. I also am scheduled 35 hours a week to work my former position with no scheduled time to work on the duties of the new position. Did I mention I am putting up with all of this for 20 bucks an hour?
I fee the same😢😢😢... Wish I could get a WFH job instead with HMO 1st day and better salary
Excellent
Got the promotion I wanted! Glad this company was good on their word!
