A parent called our librarian today and angrily chewed them out for MY nonfiction assignment because his two children had overdue books and couldn’t check books out. Both children knew of their fines all Q3. I don’t keep track of who has a fine, but bring a coin purse if it’s small fees when I take them. I have taken students twice to library for this assignment—last time to renew to avoid fees. Neither student talked to me about it. But to blame the Librarian… No words.

This is why I can't stand so many parents. They make all kinds of excuses for their kids' behavior and do nothing to foster accountability. I always like to ask if the parent has talked to the kid to get to the root of the matter. "Please ask them why they didn't let you know they owed money? This was their responsibility and they've known for all of Q3. It's unfortunate they let it get this far." Put the focus where it belongs-on the kids.

Way for the parent to take (and model) personal responsibility!

The proper narrative is that it is not an issue of equity and access. It's an issue of personal responsibility and returning borrowed items. Do not bow the knee.

He says he’s calling the school board. Unbelievable. Seriously, we are just shaking our heads. But to vehemently blame the Librarian for my assignment… Incredulous.

When the parent called the librarian he said he “had 5 five kids and had to pay for education” and wasn’t paying library fines. (0.75 cents for one child, $3-something got the other). Not sure if they were from Q1 or previous year. It shows the level of parent… I have yet to hear from parent. They screamed at secretary and admin, too. Admin calmed them down, asked librarian to excuse fines. Not sure what anyone learned here. But, if a parent is upset with my assignment, talk to me, not the librarian. They boys are in two different classes, one boy is dropped off late every morning. So, education is costing the parent more in gas instead of riding the bus. We have lots of busses, I am sure it goes near their house each morning. But, students who are habitually tardy are often behind and that’s on the parents.

Well, the parent certainly learned you can get your way if you scream enough, with those forgiven fines. But likely he knew that already.

Well that's totally unnecessary. It's only a matter of accountability when their children know of the consequences themselves. Parents are out of hand sometimes

If yes, then kindly suggest a reasonable salary range for this role.

I just got a really great offer, only downside is the eligibility for maternity leave is after 12 months of employment. We got a faint positive today but have had so many chemical pregnancies over the past year that I am not confident it will stick this time BUT I am on aspirin and progesterone for this try … so it could.. I want to see if I could negotiate being eligible earlier but I also don’t want them to think I’m pregnant when I’m not actually… How would you approach the conversation?

Hope everyone is well.

I am looking for a part time role for additional income source. I currently work in Category Management team of a Packed Food Company in Mumbai, India.

When I look for the part time roles I only find shady MLM and some delivery jobs. Nothing wrong in delivery jobs, but I am more inclined towards WFH role as me and my wife are pregnant.

Can you guys suggest where can I find reliable part time roles?

Thanks,

Interesting. Let’s see if the uptick In cases continues to drive an uptick in hospitalizations and then in fatalities. Depends on how many of the cases are incidental or in very young people not prone to severe cases. But either way, look at the hospital capacity utilization figures! This is the untold story. Were we bending the curve to avoid unnecessary deaths due to overcrowded hospitals, or were we bending the curve to buy time for treatments and vaccine, or just to slow fatalities?
