Sadly, consulting as a professional attracts such people. I read a study, banking and consulting has the most number of psychopaths.
It's fairly common, to him, its not worth his time since he already "knows how to do it". Usually this type is great at managing up but horrible to work with. Tough it out and then refuse to work with this person again.
Unfortunately there is a direct correlation with how much an engagement was sold for and the amount of involvement SM will be on that engagement. Shouldn't be that way but SM are more involved depending on the price tag.
When he really needs to do stuff, he just gives people fish and never really helps people learn fishing. I feel he is not invested in his people. How often do you guys come across such leaders.. is this how consulting world works? What am I missing here?
K 2 never looked at it that way. You have a point
K2 is on to something but isn't quite accurate. Usually future follow on sales potential is a huge reason for an SM focusing time. A new account maybe versus a smaller one off project. Either way, the SM hasn't done a good job setting expectations or managing the team morale.
Ey1 that implies that the engagement the SM doesn't have much time for also has some serious follow on potential. Not always the case.
OP you sure you're doing everything you can to learn from what the SM is doing when giving you "fish"?
K3. That is a soul searching I do every time I interact with him. I ask him I want to learn. Well I really hope I am wrong about my reading.
I am still learning how things work here.
