Account Executives: Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services or Microsoft?

Compgauge has all of these in the top 11 for their best companies for tech sales rankings (ranked 8, 9, and 11 respectively). They all look to pay roughly the same ($300k+) per compgauge...

Background: Currently an enterprise AE, 12 years experience. Want to break into Big 3 cloud providers.

Is one of these 3 the clear cut best option for AE’s? Would be happy with any tbh.

Microsoft > Google > AWS in my opinon!

I recruit cloud sales at AWS. I have worked for Google and I turned down an offer from Microsoft.
It can be tricky to get into AWS cloud sales without prior cloud sales experience, but not always. The roles I work on require it for the most part… But there are several teams here that are able to train the gap. If you don't have cloud experience and struggle to get traction at AWS or Google, I would recommend starting at Microsoft because you'll learn a ton!! You'll get exposure to the clients and verticals needed to start digging into legacy systems and understanding what those clients need for their digital cloud transformation. Once you understand what they're working with, and you start to understand the lift it takes to get them to the cloud, google and AWS will value that highly!!

At some point this market is likely to slow down. Do you see that coming soon?

If pay is the same, I'd look for best culture and WLB. I'd say Google, then Microsoft, then AWS

Gotcha thanks

Wow - congrats on the offers! I'd go with Google if it were me. Best overall for culture, from what I've heard.

Don’t have offers yet - I’m planning to begin applying to all 3 and want to know which one to focus most of my efforts on

Thoughts on this Breitling and is it worth the price? My SO and I really like the that blank and yellow combination. And think I like it over the Omega Diver Any other recommendations in the same price range? This would be my first luxury piece.

Anyone have tips for a successful FET? I had two failed FETs last year, but finally gearing up for another FET in a few weeks and having mixed emotions. Worried that we’ll have the same outcome as before, but also hopeful that *maybe* this will be the one that works for us. Differences vs. last year: had a myomectomy to remove a submucosal fibroid and switched clinics to a RE that I think is great / trust much more than my prior doctor (also had 3 more ERs at this new clinic). Thanks!

Any decent / high performers who was once an underdog / struggled initially?

I avoid Series A companies like the plague because they usually don’t have product / market fit or have their shit together at all. Agree or disagree?

I am currently working as a Software Engineer in Data Science domain like ML, QlikSense etc. I have 1.25 yr overall experience and I am from Tier 1 clg but from non-IT branch. I am not much confident about my experience in this domain as startups want more at this much exp and learning is slow in current workrole. So I am thinking to take BITS Pilani Work integrated learning program in Data Science and be here in HSBC for 2 more yrs with limited growth. Will it be right to study or to change?

What is a salary range for 10yoe with a hcd, ux/ui, front end dev, design experience product/design manager after being at Deloitte for 2 years as a manager looking to go back to industry work specifically in tech? 150k-170k base line ?

Anyone have experience with slow rising HCG? Mine went from 41k to 58k over 4 days. My OB is concerned with those numbers. Curious if anyone else was similar.

Hi all!
What kind of information would you like to find in this bowl?

Dads - my wife just got an awesome job offer. I want to get her something nice to celebrate and congratulate her. Any ideas of good gifts for professional mamas? Ideas I’ve already thought about:
- nice pen (she loses them)
- nice purse/laptop bag
- Apple Watch (she bought one for herself)
- other general jewelry

Any other ideas?

I had a thought and I can’t tell if it’s conspiracy brain. I flipped around to all the networks, and they’re all basically saying the same thing - count all the votes, then do legal challenges, but in the end Trump doesn’t have much of a path to victory - even Fox. It’s almost like they’re collectively holding off on calling any more states for Biden because they’re waiting for Trump to come to terms with it. That ultimately would be best for the country - if Trump conceded on his own. Crazy?

Do you use a second monitor for your laptop? If so, which brand do you use? I have sidetrack and it’s a hit or miss when it will work.

Question about RSUs and taxes in the UK - Amazon makes us pay 6.9% of the NIC EmployER taxes when our shares vest, and this amount is deducted from RSU reported as income so we’re not double taxed. But do you know if we are able to claim back the 6.9% through tax returns? I hear a lot of people claiming some money back on RSU taxes but never understand what and how..

S/o to the Veritas Technologies LLC recruiter who reached out to me via LI for an interview for an AE role. We set a date and he had an emergency the day off and asked to reschedule. Day of the reschedule; no-show’d for the Zoom Call and ignored my messages, emails and call after. completely ghosted me 👻

What’s interviewing been like for you all lately?

I’m transitioning back into the tech space after working in education the last five years. When applying to a remote Customer Success role, what would be a rough range to ask for salary, bonus, stock options? Quite a few companies are asking for this in applications.

Anybody know what the salary is for an Outside Sales Rep at Door Dash?

Honest input request. Recent company role overhaul & total comp package revamp, cutting my 6 figures made last year down by 30k, and they added in support calls + prospecting + team lead. Pay day saw a 2.5k take home drop This month. This helped low performing staff increase their income, and pulled top performing folks like me into the red. Do I have any negotiation points here? Each year I’ve been here earned 23-50% more per year. Other than jumping ship, what are my options?

What would be the next step after being a team manager in sales ?

Hey friends, I've been in sales for over ten years in retail/ hospitality.

I'm focusing my efforts to make a switch into tech sales and id like to work for AWS.

I completed a tech sales bootcamp and have purchased a couple books on sales methodology, more so enhancing sales + active listening skills.

If anybody would be willing to chat! I'd love more insight on roles Within AWS tech sales.

Care for a quick dm chat?

Anyone know of any Sales companies (preferably medical) that are not mandating the COVID shots or willing to look at/accept exemptions? As much as I love being in the medical field, I’m willing to branch out into other Sales fields.

Anyone worked as an Advertising Sales rep for Yelp? I have an initial phone interview coming up. Recommendations or reasons to stay away from this company?

I have an opp moving from AE of Enterprise to SLED clients. I’ve never sold to SLED. I welcome any insight. It would be 20% more in my base.

Living in SF but remote until September (earliest). Rent is too high + apartment too small to justify staying for 3+ months. Playing with the idea to leave (temp or perm). Are people doing the same?

Just finished an interview for an AE role at a high-growth SaaS organization.

The interviewer told me that their quotas are very high - barely any of their sales reps hit quota YoY. They mentioned, “goals are high to push our reps. hence our YoY growth”

Is this a red flag?

I have a very poor manager and I have the opportunity to give her some formal feedback every quarter. It’s supposedly anonymous but she doesn’t have many direct reports so she could probably figure out who said what. I have declined doing this before because I fear retaliation, but I am wondering if I should state my case because she is truly terrible. What would you do?

I am fairly new to sales (3 years), and I just closed a deal that will pay out twice what I made all of last year ($75k vs $150k). My question is: nobody here can talk to their friends or family about this kind of stuff, right? Do you all disclose to people that you are pulling in $250-$300k in a year? I'm only 25 so I don't want my friends to make me buy all their drinks 😅

Geico is an easy insurance to sell but some of the offices have high seat cost

Just got a verbal from Oracle for a manager position and should be getting the official offer by EOW. When I got the verbal today she said “I don’t know if we’ll be able to get there but we may be able to get you 100K base”.. I’m seeing on Glassdoor and Comparably that the base is at 110 - 125… how should I bring this up or push for a higher base if it’s “the closest they can get? Just trying to prepare ahead of time so I know how to respond, I’m new to negotiating! Any help would be amazing!
