Please help clarify the confusion. Biglaw pays majors bucks with 1950 hours. Associates bill exactly 1950 (sometimes lower) and don’t get fired at BigLaw (although they won’t make partner, w.e.). Meanwhile, Regional and mid size firms pay significant less and expect 1850 billable hours, like why? 🤯 what’s their value proposition? It’s still a lot of billables and still sucks. What am I missing?

When I speak up i’m gaslighted and told i’m wrong. I was fired from my first firm ( Champaign IL) for speaking up when my coworker told me to stop speaking Spanish because she felt uncomfortable. I went to HR, they said they can’t control what people say. I was let go for not being a “good fit”.

This may be a hot take - but as a younger person, working with parents of small kids (especially new parents) is so frustrating. I frequently find myself responsible for picking up the slack due to their family commitments - it’s also somehow completely socially acceptable for kids to barge into zoom meetings screaming. I wouldn’t find it nearly as bothersome if I felt like leadership and parent colleagues took my issues and non work commitments seriously in addition to that of parents and kids
