Hi, where or what types of companies should sophomores & juniors apply for next summer (2022) to recruit for IB the following summer (2023)? This summer BBs wrapped up SA IB recruitment, EBs even earlier, and a fair amount of my friends missed out big time.

Also, if a sophomore or junior doesn’t get a finance-related summer internship (I.e tech) and aims for an IB SA or FT position, is it harder to break in?

I have a friend who was let go a few months into his first job after college (reason: the manager felt like he wasn't grasping the training content to the level that was expected). He's worried about if he should put the experience on his resume anyway, if he does will recruiters ask why he had such a short time at this place, and what will recruiters think if he explains he was let go. Has anyone made the transition from non-profit and small firm practice to federal government, big law, in-house? I’m a special education parent attorney at a small firm and I’ve spent my legal career in the education and juvenile areas of the law working for 2 non-profits before ending up at the firm. However, I’m just exhausted, unmotivated, and and looking for a change. At this point (6.5 yrs of practice), is that type of transition even possible or am I stuck due to the practice area?

I’m trying to get all my ducks in a row for when I quit here at the end of next month… I am taking a break to figure out what I want to do, so I will be unemployed for a time. Do I have to notify the ARDC of this change (IL licensed)? Do I have to immediately switch to inactive status or can I stay active in case I decide to keep practicing law just a few months later? I’m interviewing for a GC role at a company that’s never had in-house counsel before. I’ve never been a GC - what questions should I be asking?

I’m a fifth year associate who is ready to get out of litigation (and private practice altogether). I’ve only ever done professional malpractice (legal, med mal, etc) and feel like those skills will not transfer as well if I had done transactional work. Ideally I would like to transition to something in-house. Any suggestions as to what jobs/industries I could transfer into with only litigation experience?

I am looking to enter big law. I had a clerkship on a state Business Calendar and am a current first year litigation associate where I have prepared for a trial, taken and defended depositions, and have extensive motion writing practice in tech, business, and employment cases. Is it a waste of time to try and make a move to big law with such few years of experience?

Which biglaw corporate practices are most attractive for in house? Currently do a mix of ECVC and M&A and looking to focus on the former but don’t want to close any doors down the line.

Are there any lawyers that moved to healthcare tech (non-legal related positions)? That would include medical devices, AI, robotics, etc. Would love to learn from your experience.

I can’t get out. I’m a barred attorney looking to move into a JD preferred role. I don’t like being at a firm. I’ve applied to hundreds (literally) of contract, compliance, regulatory, etc. sort of jobs. I’m not looking for a crazy salary either. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. How do I make the switch?
