Any recommendations for a CFP self-study program? Looking for something relatively cheap with good practice questions. No need for live classes. Thanks!
I am looking to drop my series 7 and join an RIA. I’ve finally accepted that the BD environment is a terrible fit for me. I would like to join an RIA team because I’m just over 5 years in and I would like to have some mentors to continue learning from, but if I can’t find the right fit then my plan is to launch my own. Where to start looking for an established RIA? I have not completed my CFP yet.
Not a CFP so I’m not truly in the know. That said, if I’m reading this article right, 10/2019 to maintain your CFP, you will have to drop your 7 license if you are dually registered?
I'm interested in hearing from those that hold the designation:After achieving the CFP did you/how did you announce it to your clients?
Can Bama just not win for once? Already annoyed that they’re in the CFP without a conference win.
6 week cram sesh for CFP. Any recommendations?
The only 5 people who have EVER asked me if I am a CFP... BTW I'm not... have been Millennials and gen-xers looking to start DCAing $250 a month into a Roth. Not 1 person of significant wealth. LOL
Anyone have success charging an hourly fee for financial planning? Considering making a jump into it, have cfp designation, but am mostly commission at the moment. Won’t be a total switch.
CFP designation even though not a fee base planner. Do you see any conflicts of interest/ misleading? Should a CFP be required to be a fee based planner?
How soon should someone start thinking about pursuing CFP or CFA designation? What are the requirements and is it worth it?
Thoughts on getting CFP when done with CPA (1 test left) and pivoting from audit to personal financial planning? Estates, taxes, savings, etc. Or should I just stick the OG plan and go into industry FP&A when I make senior/CPA?
For my FAs who are also CPAs (or anyone who knows I guess 😊) - do you know if there is a way to simultaneously get your CPE for the CPA while also preparing for the CFP? Continued in comments...
What nuggets of wisdom do you fishes have for someone who is thinking of getting a CPA/CFA or CFP deep into my career (have a different qualification). What is the most straightforward way (self-financed, since I have another qualification)? These would compliment my work as an actuary.
The first CFP is a bunch of bull crap! Georgia over Alabama. All of the Big Ten getting shafted. WHAT GIVES??!!
What is a good website to compare financial advisor options? I’m looking at individual profiles on NAPFA and CFP but I am not getting a good sense of which firms / agents are better than others.
I am taking the CFP exam in July. I currently have my RICP but I struggle with how to market the designation. I’m fearful that I will have the same problem with the CFP. What do you do to show people you have these designations aside from having the letters after your name? @
I'm CFP & RIA with 12 yrs experience. My wife and I are planning to relocate from the Big City to a suburb, pop: 75,000. My goal is to open an office there and grow my book to the next level. Advice?
I’m leaving from 1 firm to another. Can anyone provide guidance on how to handle the 401k? Do I just do that directly with Charles Schwab?
Okay, regarding plane etiquette, what do you consider rude? I just saw a post shaming a person for closing the window (while at window seat) and sleeping the entire flight. How is that rude?
Why did Deloitte’s federal practice have layoffs? Given that the clients are large government entities. I can understand it happening in commercial but federal makes no sense
Is it rude to suggest to a new analyst that she needs to look more professional, e.g. don’t show up with wet hair to client meetings (even if on Zoom)? FYI I’m also a female and just trying to look out for these new hires

Starting a new firm, WFH next week. I am based in West Coast but the offer is out of East Coast, the firm is aware of this and I will be moving in a few months. It says log on at 9am local time. Is this West Coast time or East Coast time?
Talked to this company and they said if I’m willing to pay to fly out they will interview me. Does that strike you as cheap?
Have an early flight (6am) out of LAX and would like to stay at a hotel nearby. I know there are a bunch in the vicinity, but any recommendations for one with easy transportation to the airport?

(I’m new here, so apologies if this sort of thing is uncouth, or if this is the wrong place to post). I’m currently working as a design lead at IBM and am looking for opportunities outside of the company. I’ve received feedback on my cover letter and resume from senior male colleagues, but I would greatly appreciate the perspective of a female in a leadership position, if anyone is willing to provide feedback. (Particularly anyone in the UX / Design Strategy field). Thank you!
Anyone within PWC people and organization practice willing to offer a referral? Have 2 YOE and see a posting that matches my background. Happy to chat further!
