Please take my advice as a grain of salt. Made to onsite, all of the FAANG, however, did not get selected. I knew the candidate who got selected and the only difference was I did not check couple of boxes 1. Ethnicity 2. SME in CS.

Make sure you match words in your resume exactly to the minimum and preferred requirements to get through the initial screening. Once you get to interview present yourself as a person vs. a resume….that’s where I see most people failing.
I would focus on areas of growth for a company. For example, Google Cloud is growing like crazy and that means they’ll always have tons of roles open. Find a role there and then move over to the more “core” Google if that’s what you want to do and not Cloud.
I’ve hesitated on applying at Google as a few past colleagues who made the jump mentioned their fellow Googlers (on the business side) are very competitive and work/life balance is worse than Big 4. Have you seen this?
