Need advice. I’m a super senior content EP at a well known agency in the U.S., where I’ve been for quite some time. Checked out http://Glassdoor.com, and I make at the high end of the ranges for similar agencies. In the past year I’ve also taken on additional responsibilities (outside of traditional EP duties) that have doubled my workload and raised my profile quite a bit. How should I go about brining up a sizable salary bump (some creatives and even planning peeps earn more with much less responsibility)?
Hi Fishes, I grabbed an offer at Accenture with 12 LPA fixed for Level 9. I'm not getting a retention offer from my current company at 13.5 lpa. How do I go about a counter offer with Accenture HR? Also tell me how to approach this situation smoothly.
If HR doesn't fulfill the counter offer, is it ok to accept 12 lpa fixed for Level 9 and when will I get a hike here and how much would it be approximately?
Accenture Please provide your insights. This is my first switch so I ne more exposure

Negotiating with EY for M/SM Tech Consulting. I have 15 years experience, skills are in demand and my interviews went extremely well. 1. What are the salary ranges for M and SM in NYC. 2. I am told it is only going to be a M now, for my own benefit-no EY network means failure at selling. Whats the highest salary I can negotiate at M. Any other tips will be handy. I have "sold" (support on sales & new roles through relationships) plus I have solid delivery experience. I really want SM 😀😀😀 EY

Been laid off twice and once was the boss who had to communicate a layoff to employees knowing I’d also be laid off in the process so I saw a bit of both sides. In my experience, negotiating is difficult if you are part of a large group layoff since any extras you get may be seen as actionable legally by others in the group. If you get something another employee doesn’t then accusations of favoritism, sexism and racism are a risk. I’m not saying it can’t be done but it is tricky. If it’s a single “we’re doing away with your position” layoff then they may be more flexible. It’s hardest to negotiate severance since lawyers have probably vetted the offer. However I have seen people negotiate extended health insurance or job placement services. Always check the agreement before signing. I took mine home and read it even though I was told I should sign it before I left. Keep an eye out for any non-compete clauses. I’m not sure how legitimate they are as part of a layoff but have heard of companies who have them in all separation agreements pro forma. Be clear if the door is open to return or not since I’ve seen people or come back when business picks up. Ask if the severance prevents you from filing for unemployment also. I believe that varies from state to state. All that being said, best of luck to all. I’ve been there. First one was a surprise, second one wasn’t. Found a new job within a few weeks in both cases by working my contacts and treating the job search like it was my new job. In both cases I ended up in a better place and I hope you will too.
Don't sign on the spot. Ever. Take it with you. Typically negotiating severance only works in your favor if you've been with the company a long time or a few years OR if you're at director level. I tried to negotiate my severance from rga but they didn't give it to me. If you have any kind of reason to engage in a legal battle with rga then don't sign the package ever because you'll give up your right to sue for anything (usually). Good luck today
Also they only pay out up to 5 PTO days. Also it's a super demeaning process, sorry to anyone else who has to go through it. 😔
I got laid off in July. Policy is minimum two weeks, and then an extra week for every year after two. You have to hit the two year mark for that extra week.
I tried to negotiate and was told "oh, we don't talk to IPG about these things. The policy is in place to be fair during events like this."
Great advice and insight @Director1
@R/GA 1 thank you and I sincerely hope you never need it
Sign it only if you are happy with what they give you. But don't sign it on the spot, take with you, read all the terms and return it within the given days.
^was told the same thing.
Do you have any friends in an HR role elsewhere (even a different industry)? Or friends of friends? They are invaluable to providing guidance on your particular specifics if you have them as a resource.
Why do you not sign? If you don't have reason to sue.
Forgot to add.. If you try to fight for more money and you don't win, sign it anyway because something $ is better than nothing.
Oh also they do pay their contribution on your cobra for two months, which is about the only positive.
You should be getting 2 weeks for year1 and 1 week for every year after. Unused pto is paid out as well (but it’s “accrued” instead of whole year)
What about employment attorneys? Are they helpful during a layoff?
Only if you feel like you were laid off wrongfully and have proof
Always have a lawyer review a severance package before you sign off on it.
