eczema is typically the result of an unbalanced gut. Start taking probiotics, and keep the eczema moisturized. olive oil, coconut oil… use something like that… I actually apply a product called miracle oil to my cheek when it flares up. it has tea tree oil, argan, jojoba, and sweet almond oil. Its by Pure Romance.
Yes, eastern medicine! I went this route after countless western medicine doctors couldnt help me. Found a functional medicine doctor and after a few months of treatment, my issues are gone!
That sounds terrible, could it be a food allergy? I have excema, but only when I eat dairy or gluten.
Maybe! I could try an allergy test. It’s so odd because I don’t have eczema anywhere else on my body.
I have it mildly in my ear and use rose hip oil dipped in QTip and apply to my ear every other night / as needed. One of my doctors told me to use extra virgin olive oil years ago after a week or prescription drops so that’s how it started. It helps. Gotta keep it moisturized as much as possible.
Will try, thank you!
Other option is completely eliminate all fragrances - in shampoo, conditioner, hair products, detergents, etc. it sucks but helps
This was one of my doctor’s recommendations too! I started using my baby’s very clean, fragrance free products and didn’t notice any change. Thank you though I do appreciate you providing advice!
I don't, but my husband does. His ears get sooo flaky, especially in the wintertime. He has tried so many things. Drinking lots of water, eating fermented foods, and cutting back on sugar all seem to help. But I know it's different (yet equally frustrating) for everyone. Good luck, I really hope you find something that helps!
My doctors recommended me to swim in seawater during warm weather. This is because seawater reduces symptoms of eczema and warm water soothes the itchiness.
Have you tried the Gladskin Eczema Cream? It's gentle but very moisturizing. This is the only product that worked for me. It's a relief that I discovered this.
Ooh, no I’ve never heard of it but I will try it! You have the same issue in your ear as well? Or eczema somewhere else?
May I know what those ointments are? I'm currently on the hunt because I am so desperate to find the right product that would really work for me.
The only thing I can do since I can't really treat it altogether is to soak a Q-tip in Flonase which is a nose allergy spray and put it in my ear. It's not as abrasive as a dry Q-tip.
My doctor prescribed me a mild steroid cream and since it's steroid, I only use it when my eczema flares up and I only use it when necessary. I hope you find something that works for you.
Go to a dermatologist - these remedies may help but they have more tools at their disposal!
Omg this sounds terrible - I’m so sorry!
Have you tried Vaseline or aquaphor? Generally
Use these for eczema on other areas of my body.
Are you using a humidifier to add moisture?
Additionally - hot water can dry out skin this time of year. Have you tried covering your ear when you shower? Idk how you’d manage this but just a thought.
I’ve tried Vaseline and aquaphor to no avail :( will try the humidifier, thanks for the idea!
Has anyone given you a course of oral steroids (prednisone)? That can knock out eczema.
I had eczema on my scalp and a prednisone shot knocked it out pretty much for good. I bet a derm could help you
As a fellow eczema sufferer, I'm so sorry...I would also say along with a humidifier, maybe get an air purifier? My eczema acts up a lot when I don't have it on, and also, you could try something like CeraVe or Cetaphil but idk if that'll work if the steroids aren't doing the trick from the dov
It’s all worth a shot, I’ll pick some up and try along with consistent use of an air purifier. I have a Dyson one that I love but don’t use it regularly enough to know if it’ll help.
Ohh. I never knew eczema can reach the ear canal. That must be uncomfortable.
