Anyone ever have an opposing attorney be such a pain in the ass to deal with that your firm has to institute new policies with dealing with the entire opposing firm?

Has anyone else had a mentor (assigned to them by the Company) who seemed to have it out for you? I mean downright sabotage to make you look bad left and right. I didn’t realize it at first. She was fake friendly, but she was discrete too. Some of the executives thought she was amazing, but I had to clean up her work all the time. She wasn’t above me either on the chain of command. Later I found out she had tried for the exec assistant role and they didn’t choose her, they wanted me instead.

I'm a male and my admin is female. After working with her for a week and discussing it with my wife, I think my admin is a little smitten for me.

I have no feelings towards her whatsoever and have been nothing but very professional in all interactions.

Has anyone had a Manager that does not work well with your ADHD? Im going through this right now and the way they communicate doesn’t match what I need. If I ask questions, they huff and puff. But then get upset if something is done and it doesn’t meet their exact expectations. It’s sucks that I don’t have enough interest to continuously focus on the projects, but now I have even less motivation because I dread dealing with my manager.

I started working for a new law firm, much larger than the firm I was working for previously. The main attorney that I work under had noticed some mistakes I was making (I am a NY paralegal who took this position with the understanding that they’d be teaching me NJ and NYC real estate). Anyways, the attorney decided to tell the HR manager about the mistakes I had been making. Rather than HR discussing with me, the manager told my dramatic coworker to tell me..how should I handle this? Very hurt!

Any thoughts on how do we deal with an incompetent boss who you dont look up to and have no trust that you would ever get credit for the work you would do for him/her? Given that changing the boss is not an option.

My boss in my creative agency threatened to fire me because I, a male, came into work with my nails painted. HR is having a very complicated day today as I found out I could take legal action if he does fire me since we don't have an established dress code that has any guidelines against male nail polish wearing.

Went from a big firm to work for a smaller firm. The people in the smaller firm are protective of their work and are good by their work too. I no longer feel chaos or stress. I am treated with respect and my schedule is more normal. I am even working more billable hours than before, but it feels like a seamless experience. I don’t work then past 5pm or anything out of the ordinary for this time of the year. I am so grateful!

I work at a small Midwest ID firm doing mostly MVAs for an Insurance Carrier. Currently have a case where where plaintiff is claiming extensive lost wages from missing tips from working as a bartender/waitress. Place of employment is a strip club, I got a feeling she’s a dancer not a bartender or waitress. Anyone have any suggestions for getting a client to cooperate with discovery. We were retained by a insurance company for their insured and he has not returned emails or phone calls in about 4 weeks. Plaintiff’s counsel wants a settlement offer, and discovery responses or they’re gonna file a motion to compel. The company has been made aware of the insured’s noncooperation but they have tell us they’re pulling coverage for us to withdraw.
