Hello! I’m only about 4 weeks pregnant, so super early. I am about to go on vacation and thankfully did a quick search on some “dos and donts” for the first trimester. I am v disappointed to see I shouldn’t do saunas and hot tubs as my vacation was really planned to be all relaxation. But it got me thinking, could you all share the most surprising pregnancy do or don’t you’ve encountered? I feel like I just need a master list cause there seem to be so many limitations 😭

I just got offered a job with a firm that has billable hour requirements. I’ve never had had billable hours. Is is appropriate to ask what the billable requirements are? I have a good idea from someone I know who works in a different department but want to confirm what they told me. They also provided vacation time of 3-5 weeks. I’m assuming that’s work weeks, but is that appropriate to ask for clarification? I don’t want them to think that’s all I care about, but these are important to me.

So I am a database coordinator for our maintenance system for our entire city. We have multiple hospitals, 2 stand alone ER, plus hundreds of clinic, and we are continuing to build more. I am making around 46k/year, with no incentives and we have to use PTO for all holidays. We have 8 holidays/year which you are not allowed to work. I earn 22 days of PTO/year. Do I need to renegotiate?

After years of being overworked and having requests for help go unacknowledged- I put in notice after 20 years. In addition to this, this job checks every box as far as being a toxic workplace, I made the decision to save my mental health in lieu of a paycheck. It has not been formally announced that I’m leaving, but the word is out, and I am getting the “silent treatment”. I know this shouldn’t bother me but it does- is this just the way it’s going to be for the next 3 weeks?

I have resigned from my current job and I am taking a break of 4-5 months to figure out something. Would want to start working Jan'22 onwards.

1. When should I start looking for jobs? Now onwards (and tell recruiters I wish to join in Jan) or 2-3 months before Jan?
2. Can I be probed too much for the gap of 4-5 months? I basically have family medical commitments, and I think it should be fine.
3. I cant be into full time thing for said period, should do something part-time? Courses etc kind?

Parties aside, I think we need to get rid of omnibus bills, need to put a page length max, and it may sound dumb but bills should be written so an average highschool social studies student can easily decipher The Who/what/when/where/why of it all. Also think that it should be illegal for politicians to skip out on a vote or not vote. Never understood packaging nasa funding with adding laws for police or something. Also add a deliberate cost breakdown .
