I did it. Used consulting to grab a higher salary in industry. Did industry corporate strategy for a few years. Was fun. Got really mundane as I got into the minutiae of smaller company. Exited back to consulting at a higher level, 30% pay bump. Definitely happier with my second consulting gig, but it’s starting to get old again Now 4 more years of consulting, and I’m circling back towards another industry exit. Onward and upward friends
Same. I just get bored and after a nice break from travel and crazy hours, I can do it for a few years ago.
I did it. Went to industry because I thought we were permanently relocating to S.C. My hubby retired and decided he’d like to do 6 months in OH/6 months in S.C. so it was back to Consulting. Although the frequent travel gets to me, it’s a means to an end. Plus I have grandkids in TX and S.C. so the free miles and tagging on weekends between client trips helps a lot.
I did industry - consulting - industry. Loved (?) the consulting experience I had because as much as I hated it, I get it now and can relate to our external consultants pretty well, and can whip out a pretty damn good PPT. Industry can get boring but I like the consistency rather than flying by the seat of my pants. It’s kind of about the role you’re in too. Potato tomato
