I have both. CSR isn’t as good since travel restrictions limit redemption capability but the overlap between the two isn’t enough to create a redundancy imo.
Main perks of Gold on top of CSR are 4x on groceries, $120 in credits on UberEats and $120 in credits on Grubhub. If you have a corporate card, you should be eligible for a $100 statement credit every year too
Another relevant perk once travel picks up is diversification of Chase and Amex points to access different transfer partners
Go with whatever your business card is so you can maximize points. Pay the 90 bucks to leverage your business points for AMX then combine with the gold card
Oof. Then I’d say go with one or the other. I have the CSR and will be dropping it this year to do what I suggested
Unless you’re a truly lavish spender or can use personal cards for business travel, I think people vastly overestimate value of multiple annual fee credit cards (past the sign up bonus) esp when compared to the best free alternatives. For example, amex business plus gives 2x membership reward points on all spending or citi double cash gives 2% cash back.
For example, a free BofA card gives 3% cash back on travel. Let’s say the CSR is a generous 6% effectively. You would have to spend $3k per year on travel just to break even on the CSR effective annual fee of $150. If you split spending across multiple cards with worse rates like the Gold it’s just not worth it. you’re getting locked into whatever spending promotion they have you on (eg Uber eats) and also can be limited on redemptions.
That being said, getting an annual fee card just for 1 year as other poster mentioned can make sense to use up points optimally.
