First time I interviewed at my current firm I didn't make it past my second round due to a bad review from an interviewer. Applied again a year later and got hired. In between that year, the interviewer who wrote me a bad review got fired due to poor performance. Moral of the story, it sucks that one person can mess up your job search so badly but don't give up! Often times it's not you, it's them!
What do you think will be the impact of this rapid hiring for MBB? MBB is hiring so rapidly. When it cools down, do you think MBB will realize they over hired? Will it become harder for associates (post MBA) to get promoted? Will it become more competitive for Associates to get staffed on projects they want to be on? Will there just be too many consultants at the Firm and a mass layoff? McKinsey & Company Bain & Company Boston Consulting Group
Anyone looking for a freelance graphic designer or illustrator? Just got laid off, and could use something to hold me over.
If you get laid off due to performance in a protected state, will you employer still be required to pay out accrued vacation, sick, and personal days?
Newly laid off and considering going into consulting. Has anyone done it with a VC or PE firm? If so, I’d love to connect.
Happy layoff hunger games
Got laid off a month ago after 1.5 years despite great snapshots and utilization. Was just offered a consulting position at a much smaller local firm for $5,000 less than what I was making before
There is truly nothing like going through the shock of layoffs and then seeing your closest coworkers still here at the end of the day. Hold you peeps close today folks ❤️ 😔
Can somebody refer me at MBB, Accenture, EY and PwC? Victim of Deloitte layoff. Would appreciate any and all the help I can get!
How are people "networking" now that we are wfh? I mean, you are barely even aware if people still work in the same company. Previously, you at least saw them every now and then at the office but now... They could have fired half the company and I wouldn't know
Are any Apple agency vendors worried about potential layoffs due to Apple’s stock price and slump in sales?
I have been on my SO’s case about drinking. He is unemployed and has been laid off. He has been having drinks 3x a week. One or two glasses a session. I drink 2-3x a month. I say it is too much. He’s Irish and I’ve lived in Ireland. People binge drink the entire weekend until they fall over. Someone who comes home from work drinks one dram of whiskey every night. This is normal. Americans define this as alcoholism.Do you think this is a cultural difference or actual excessive drinking?
After watching succession it lowkey felt like it was written about the Ford family. Around the time I was watching the show I met bill ford at some event I help organize at the train station being rebuilt. Thought I was on the come up. Couple months later I was laid-off/fired ahah. Wasn’t even a mid manager was just an entry level employee lololol.
Let’s say one of us gets laid off. Does it benefit our search in relation to opportunities through LinkedIn contacts if we don’t update our employment status? Does it hurt? Does it matter?
I was due for a promotion but then covid hit, and during the peak of layoffs/furloughs, I was given the run-around that we have agency wide promotion freezes, etc. Over the past month, a handful of people have been promoted. I know everyone's situation is different but I can't help feeling snubbed. How do I know whether they are genuinely trying to promote me and can't, versus them stringing me along for as long as possible? I dont want it to come to having to bring another offer to the table..
Looking at the way people are laid off, utilization is just one part of it. It's so hard to pin point what is (proper consultants let go from projects, etc..)
Just got pulled off my main project and don't have any project scheduled yet.... Feel like I will be fired :(
So the VP of HR at my client was caught with a prostitute in his office this past weekend. Booooom!
Completely bombed an interview yesterday, and I’m ok with that. I realized how wildly unprepared I was and how I can make it better for the next ones I have lined up! It’s ok to fail and learn from mistakes. Also my kids were running around in the background so hopefully that wasn’t the reason 🤣
Given the current scenario, seems like getting laid off is a very real possibility. What is the severance package like at EY, PwC, Deloitte? Just curious

Any insight into EY’s IFCS practice? Thinking of applying to their open staff role from another firm, I’d be transferring out of audit.
Hi folks! I am new to interviewing. Any tips on how to prepare for an initial phone interview with a recruiter for a position I applied for? What kind of questions should I be expecting? Thanks !
Does anyone know if their firm has any inclusion initiatives around hiring individuals with special needs as part of a transition program? For example, when offices are open, having individuals be employed by the firm and help with more administrative tasks such as helping to get conference rooms set up for events, assisting visitors, etc.? My younger brother has special needs so am trying to help my parents look for a few options and was wondering if any of the consulting firms have this!

Is it realistic to aim for a move to MBB after 1-2 years of experience at a Tier 2 firm (OW/ATK/RB/S&) in the region? How difficult is it to move from Tier 2 to MBB?
I am a Manager in Salesforce practice at D and I have 15 YOE and 5 years in Salesforce and at 145k base at D. Is it reasonable to expect a Senior Manager or Director role at pwc or accenture or other top consulting firms with a 30% hike? I took my current role at D at the start of the pandemic and got myself a bad bargain which is why I am looking to move.
For flight delays out of Europe, you apparently have rights to compensation. Article suggests you pay someone to do it for you: http://qz.com/779914/how-i-got-american-airlines-to-pay-me-e600-for-a-delayed-flight. Anyone try this?
Are utilization targets strict at every consulting firm? I know we complain a lot at Deloitte but I’m not sure if it’s the same everywhere
My company is bleeding talent! I took up a PM role 3 months ago at a not-so-hot smaller tech company. When I joined there were 8 PMs. Today, 6 of those have quit and 3 of those are in the past 3 weeks. We’ve hired 3 more since I joined. I haven’t built deep enough relationships here to probe about their reasons for leaving, but I’m really concerned. The company is undergoing many changing priorities and acquisitions in play which definitely could be why. What would you do in my shoes?
How different is interview prep for HBS Vs GSB Vs Wharton? Just trying to estimate amount of effort I’d need to put in if I get an invite (given already crazy hours at work)

I’ve long disliked the term ethics. Definitions of ethics all refer to morals. Morals are very personal and vary a lot from person to person, culture to culture. Law is how we as a society express our preferences and impose rules and restrictions on ourselves. So the question should never be about whether companies can be ethical. What does that mean? One person thinks eating meat is unethical, another thinks it’s perfectly ethical. Companies should focus on complying with the law.
I might be asking a lot, but does anyone have experience transitioning to permanent remote positions in analytics or data science at 40 hrs/week hard stop? Looking for suggestions on how to do it/good companies. I’m ready to get out of the city and start a little farm business on the side.
Have a client that constantly sends tons of emails after 10 pm, even on weekends. How do you get a client to temper this?
