Hi, I need a referral for an internship
in Financial Advisory Team
Valuation, M&A, FDD, or Financial
Consulting - at Big 4 in Germany,
can anyone help me?
I did my bachelor's degree at the
University of Mannheim.
I would appreciate any kind of
support and advice.
I'm not above reaching out to alumni
directly via Linkedln, but l'd prefer to
bug as few as possible. So if you
want to help, guide, or mentor,
please pm me.

The moment you get to the SM level will be harder to exit. At least that’s what I’m experiencing. I’m finding very few opportunities in the industry that match my skill & experiences. There are out there but it takes a lot of time to identify one and eventually land there.
My advice to you is to take on the first good offer you find and don’t wait to make SM...
Manager -> industry level director imho
No
There are less opportunities but the ones available are usually more senior and in leadership capacities. There are no hard and fast rules though so it doesn’t hurt to look while working.
Hmm interesting - why 4 years? You think your experience is best positioned and your salary at the right level?
Curious as well
What would you argue is the best level to leave at? Manager / consultant?
It all depends on your goals and objectives, to switch groups or industries it’s best to do at the associate / senior associate level. To go from consulting to industry probably senior associate / manager. But if your goal is to be a leader or senior exec MD/SVP then you need to get to Director / SM.
@A2 SC, but you don’t have those. That’s 4 years at D
I think I was better positioned to have left as an M2 to a Director role, than now as an SM. The work to payoff isn’t really worth it. Plateau starts in later M year/s and persists at SM level until 5-7 years. Just my $.02
A3 - you mean the exit opportunities remain more or less same from later M years to a few years at SM? Any impacts on salary levels offered in industry.
