Does anyone have experience interviewing with Deloitte Internal Services? I had my final interview a week and a half ago, and received positive feedback throughout. The hiring manager had positive things to say and mentioned they hoped to make a decision by the end of last week. It’s now Friday the week after. The role still shows as “Interviews in Process.” We did discuss potential start dates, but no salary. Any experience with receiving offers for an internal services role? Is this common?

No, a Rolex would “scream wannabe show off” more than a Longines and this is coming from someone who owns several Rolex watches.
Longines to me would signal as someone who’s an enthusiast that knows to look past Rolex/omega/cartier etc for a great watch.
Longines has a long heritage. I don’t think I’d take anyone seriously if they hated on the it. They’ve definitely also stepped up their game recently. 👌🏽
Longines are amazing watches and respected by the “watch community.” All substance, minimal flash

Longines is 100% not a show off watch. They do classic dress watches very nicely and are quite unique for that price range. Another brand to consider in that range would be Nomos.

What watches do you actually like? Do you like Longines? Only watch nerds can tell any difference between any watches that’s not a Rolex. If you’re not really a watch person I would probably say get something quartz and classy so you don’t have to deal with any maintenance.

Longines makes solid watches. Some of the best quality at that price point imo
Totally get it and simile background here. I like my longines tank - understated and works for me :)
Yes exactly the dolce vita is the one I have and I really like the style for me (F).
And yes the complications factor plus somewhat understated brand is what I like! Makes it a little less flashy but still a “status symbol” if that’s something you’re looking for. It’s got substance without much obvious
Longines is a Swiss watchmaker with a long history, and is responsible for many innovations in timekeeping over the years. I have a Legend diver from Longines and it's a great watch.
I bought a HydroConquest years ago and couldn't be happier. Considering use, literally the best value item I own. Has served me better than well through work, beaches, bars, weddings....
Check out NOMOS for understated and simple design.

+1 on this, if you want to spend less, quartz is an option or Japanese watches like a Seiko Presage
The navitimer is a great watch
The only brands that you'll maybe be flagged as a show-off for buying are the luxury brands that non-watch people associate with rich people, i.e. Rolex, Richard Mille, AP and Patek
Beyond those brands it's primarily people into watches who will recognize what it even is, and they will know Longines is on the more affordable end of luxury watches. Combine the above with their design language being relatively constrained, and you have nothing to worry about
If anything you'll probably be surprised by how few people notice at all. When you go to buy, please keep in mind that market price is often much less than MSRP so if you just buy from a jewelry store at sticker price you might overpay by a substantial amount
When you buy a new watch, you can either buy from a Jewelry store (Authorized Dealer "AD") or the gray market (Jomashop and Watchmaxx are the two biggest)
When an AD buys a watch from a brand they usually sell it at or near MSRP, selling it at different price points usually makes the brand upset and risks their relationship. This is a problem when MSRP is too high relative to the supply x demand curves, or if an AD needs to liquidate inventory to get cash now for some reason
To solve for this, ADs liquidate inventory to "gray market" dealers at whatever price they want and the gray market dealer sells it for market price. For most brands this represents a big discount opportunity
Gray market dealers are not illegal at all - brands just don't like them because they undermine the brand equity by pricing below MSRP
You can also buy a watch from another person using a peer to peer platform like Ebay or Chrono24. In these cases you can usually get the watch authenticated and inspected from the platform (sometimes this costs an extra fee). Then there's web forums, but I'd stay away for your first purchase
Also support Longines as a solid brand. They make a lot of more reasonable automatics as well such as the heritage conquest.
If you really want a watch only those in the know would spot and appreciate, I’d go for Nomos
Looking at getting the moonphase chrono for myself
Big fan of longines
