I never provide details of any personal issues to anyone at work. If there are life issues weighing me down at work, and the manager asks if there's a problem, I just tell her I'm dealing with a few personal matters but I won't let it get in the way of providing excellent service to the policy holders and claimants.

Yea, Ive had to make her aware of certain things in my life, Im glad I have the open relationship I do and can talk to her when things are going crazy in my life.
Used to be, but my old boss knew me personally for over 10 years.
New job with my new boss...nope
I wouldn’t say I slack, especially, when things are not “stable.” I tend to actually work harder. I do let them know enough.
I am honest to a fault. I do think it could backfire so I only share the bare minimum at work as it is business. Only business.
I definitely don’t slack. I’ve had some tough life events come up including my mom’s cancer diagnosis. She had to get chemo once every 3 weeks and I knew I wanted to be there with her for support so she didn’t have to do it alone. I explained this to my boss as we are required to be in the office and he was very understanding and open to letting me do it especially after telling him that I was going to bring my work laptop with me to the hospital and work from there. I’ve proven my work ethic and it’s never been a problem and it’s nice being able to have that open & honest dialogue with him.
