I’ve been practicing in both big law (many yrs ago) and now in-house for over 10 years. Quite often I struggle because I don’t find work fulfilling. I’ve been in industries that allegedly have greater cause (healthcare) but was eventually disappointed by the corporate bureaucracy and went to a cutting-edge tech company for intellectual stimulation. Still I struggle. Should I try public interest? Not that I don’t need the money but it’s hard to work when I am so detached and find it meaningless

Has anyone taken sabbatical? What was the process and did it affect your year-end?

Just got off the phone with a recruiter who asked me what year I graduated from my MBA program and college and effectively told me I was too old for the role. I do have the 1 year of experience they asked for in the job in question. It's just that I have all this other experience in things unrelated to the role or things I want to deemphasize in my next role. Is there anything I can do? I only list the last 8 years of experience (as it's most relevant) and don't have my graduation years listed.

One of my junior associates recently resigned and I've been trying to make an exit myself for several months now. The job market has been really competitive but I am getting closer to getting a new job and moving on. The firm culture isn't great and work-life balance is non existent. I'm trying for a switch in a SDET role, but now my current company is offering me the role of a Product Manager. Can anyone share your thoughts on what should I do? Is SDET a better role or a PM as a point of career growth ?

Question for those in "tech" cities. I am in Northern VA and view this area as a potential tech destination of the future as FAANG moves towards servicing the federal govt (see HQ2). Is there much of a premium in terms of pay for the accountants in the current tech cities? Is a career in FAANG as an accountant better than public accounting if you never expect to make partner? Why are people so hesitant to hire disabled candidates?

I am a visually impaired practitioner in South Africa, with 7 years of experience, and as soon as recruiters or business owners hear/read that I'm disabled, the conversation gets awkward and I never hear from them again.
