Tell me you are experiencing burnout without telling me you are experiencing burnout.
I have found the sweet spot is to aim for the 2nd highest possible performance tier. You have to push yourself a bit, but you don’t burn yourself out, but you are still seen as above average. Your bonus won’t be materially less than the performance tier above you, and you’ll still progress in your career.

Fellow skater here. Do what you need to do and go enjoy happy hour like the rest of us fed up with this shit
Lol, I know that term fron my pledging uni days. One of the guys that crossed got the line name “figure 8” 😂
Like why would you put in 50-100% extra time for the chance of a 10-20% bonus?
Well I’m at a point where I’m going to refuse any work that doesn’t interest me till I’m fired - that’s how little I care. Was rolled off a project for not performing (did it on purpose) and have been on the bench over two months getting paid.
3 years of me being put in something I don’t care about - I’ve found 3 projects that interested me and were ready to take me on and EVERYTIME I’m asked to go on another project
Even being on neck for 2 weeks is fine but choosing a project I like outside my op isn’t lol
I basically just take my unlimited pto after every project 😂
I like your mindset, I want to start living this way as well.
OP, what level are you? The threshold for not getting fired probably is pretty closely correlated to how important the people are who you deal with on a day to day basis. From your post it doesn’t sound like you’re talking to anyone over there on a day to day basis though. Lol
